Quick question, I'm in the market of buying a brand new laptop. But I don't know whether I should choose a 60Hz or 144Hz refresh rate laptop monitor?

I don't play video games. Would I benefit anything with a 144Hz laptop refresh rate?

Do you do video editing?
Probably need to state what you will be using it for but I will imagine the consensus will be no

I do plan on ripping DVDs and Blu Ray files and converting them to mpeg or mkv to stream. Like Plex.

Other than that not really. I don’t plan on making youtube videos or anything like that.

For mostly music, internet, downloading and ripping movie files and CD music files as well.

Going to cop a 1080 24 inch monitor and in a couple months when I've moved buy another 24 inch 4k monitor for a duel screen setup.

Any recommendations?
27in at minimum for 4K breh

Going to have to take apart my PC and put it in a new case

It shorts out at any bump
disconnect it completely, i'm confused

Brehs have anyone bought refurbished laptop ?

What would be a good brand to start with?

I need a laptop hold me down until I get a desktop which will my power machine..

I'm looking at
  • Intel Core i5 4th Gen 4300U (1.90 GHz)
  • 8 GB Memory 128 GB SSD
  • Windows 10 Pro 64-bit
  • for $200 :patrice:

(Main requirements)
-need the laptop for FL STUDIO, run Maschine software...do some light video editing..I can do some shyt in windows movie maker on my :flabbynsick: laptop so I figure any i5 would be a major upgrade.
For example my current dell laptop is Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-3217U CPU @ 1.80GHz, 4GB, Windows 8 64bit(I fukking hate windows 8 layout:trash: )

I can run FL STUDIO 12 fairly well with stock plugins, cutting samples currently, some vsts start overloading my cpu but it's okay for the most part so I think any i5 would be okay for fl studio.

Maschine requirements are
Windows 7, 8, or 10 (latest Service Pack, 64-bit only), Intel Core i5 or equivalent CPU, 4 GB RAM
:patrice:

That processor is going to struggle. 2 cores at 1.9 ghz turbo to 2.9 is not good enough for today's standards. Barely better than the one you have now.

Also is there a big difference between

an i5 4300 1.9GHZ and
  • Intel Core i5 4th Gen 4300M (2.60 GHz)
  • 8 GB Memory 250 GB HDD
  • 1366 x 768
  • Windows 10 Home 64-Bit
:patrice:

Should note i'd like to be able to play Cities Skylines ran on medium settings..it's not a requirement that I play the game but would that extra GHz make a difference?

Recommended for that game is Intel Core i5-3470, 3.20GHz or AMD FX-6300, 3.5Ghz.

Appreciate the quick feedback...

Yea this current one is :flabbynsick: fukking the mouse cursor been freezing up randomly ever since we got it back in like 2012..battery is done as well so it has to be plugged in all the time.

So I should be avoiding i5 and looking at i7 and up and I should be fine?

I'd rather not pay more than $300 but looking now an there are several i7 with SSD under $300:ehh:

1. The CPU and RAM look insufficient.
2. I generally avoid refurbs.

I just realized in my lifespan of owning RTX cards, I've only turned on raytracing once. Nvidia hustle game is on another level :dead:

AMD needs to sell a good portion of Radeon to another company to handle
