Ima start watching this show because ya’ll fukking with it and I need something to binge while I wait for GOT and Atlanta to return.
I remember when I first saw the ads for it I thought Fox had let Seth get bigheaded andnit was gonna be trash and cancelled within a month

The writers on this show get Star Trek way better than the writers on Discovery. It's like the people behind Discovery don't like Star Trek.

This episode was a mess. They should have spent more time on saving the people on that planet than Bortus' porn addiction. That nobody seemed to give a fukk that they were only able to save half the people on that planet made the whole episode feel rushed and poorly paced.
Bortus is a little ho tho. nikka out here fantasizing about getting raped and gangbanged.

I love how they have landed on this balance of storylines that are inspired by TNG but taking them to a darker place.
We have seen a million holodeck stories on TNG but to take a holodeck story and turn it into a story about porn addiction and a fractured marriage made it feel original.
And them killing off the majority of a civilization because they could only rescue less than half of them is not something that TNG would have ever done either.
Plus they found a way to tie Bortus' storyline into the rescue story that was seamless.
This show really doesn't get the respect it deserves for ultimately being smarter than the pilot episode made it out to be.

They also totally glossed over the fact that Bortus' lack of basic network security awareness let to him infecting the ship with a virus from a bootleg drive that contributed to the fact that they didn't have enough time to rescue more people. In addition to putting the whole ship in danger of falling into a star with no shields up. He should have been AT LEAST demoted. The survivors from the planet should want him dead once they find out what he did.

Watching season 1 now. Just finished the ep witn that ship full of people who thought they were on an actual planet.
Its pretty decent so far. You can tell Mcfarland really put his all into this show in a way he hasn’t done since the first three seasons of Family Guy.
The writing is well done. The episode about “About A Girl” was especially well written

I think also because Seth’s name is attached to it so people who don’t watch it assume it’s one thing but it’s really not that one thing. This is a Star Trek show through and through. It inverts some Star Trek tropes it goes to the darker side of those stories. Bortus’ porn addiction is real. But to then take that to him resenting his mate? That’s deep. That’s real. And ties in to one of their best episodes from season 1 and shows the ramifications of it. That’s stuff TNG only did after season 3 and even then, it still ended things neatly.
