This movie exceeded my expectations. I laughed out loud several times, and I rarely do that at the movies. The scene with Cedric had me literally in tears. I also wasn't expecting the biting critique of the industry. Replaces Hollywood Shuffle as my #1 black critique of Hollywood. Very smart, reflective, and funny as shyt. My only criticism is that not all of the sequences flowed seamlessly but he made it work. I really loved how everything came full circle with the ending shot. Brilliant.

I'd say this completely rearranges my personal top five for 2014.

5 out of 5 stars.:salute:

great fukking movie...well written, everyone killed their cameos, funny as hell, and great soundtrack...plus, i'm a sucka for a good romantic comedy, which this surprisingly turns out to be....wasnt expecting that....

also, it's what i've been asking for along time now: a reg black movie...hollywood usually only gives us certain types of 'black' movies that are filled with stereotypes and/or over the top characters of black people like we arent real people....

anyway, to get back on the positive, feel good that is this movie: this shyt had me dying....from eveyone killing they cameo to everyone yelling out 'hammy' all the damn time, just couldnt stop laughing....blacks should def support this movie either by going to see it and/or buying it when it drops on dvd/blu-ray....i'll probably go see it again in the theaters and i know i'm def copping when it drops...hell, when the credits started rolling, i told the chick i went with i know what i want for christmas..she asked: this movie?..me: you damn right...lol...

Movie was hilarious so were the cameos.
The jfk joke might be the funniest joke I've ever heard. It was so over the line that it crossed back over.

My favorite cameo was
dmx was hilarious, caught me completely off guard :laff:

Was sad seeing tracy morgan though, knowing what happened to him and what he's going through now. He was funny as usual.

I saw this on my FB feed the other day... just feel like sharing

:snoop:

Status kicked off like this...
Top Five is an AWFUL movie.

:what:

The reasoning behind that point of view?...
:dead:

There was no story line. It kept playing these random flashbacks that really didn't add to the story. The journalist was like all in love with him after one day which makes no sense. The journalists having a gay boyfriend was irrelevant to me. Didn't add to the story at all. And Chris Rock just isn't funny.

That was the worst movie that I've seen in a very VERY long time. The message was scattered. Most of it was unnecessary. It's as if they threw stuff in to appease different audiences. I'm sorry but my respect for everyone that appeared in this movie went down and I have none at all for Chris Rock. My goodness did they even read the script before they signed on? Are you really that thirsty to make more money that you would waste our time and money on that mess. I nearly walked out of the movie, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt hoping that they would pull it together in the end, but it just GOT WORST! There were like 8 people in the whole theater. IT SUCKED ROYALLY! The only conclusion I can come to is Chris was trying to tell his own sorry sad story in some twisted way. That wasn't entertainment it was straight up TRASH!!! Poor thing...

I bet they love Tyler Perry movies though

Saw this today. Agree with everybody on DMX. Had me crying. This movie would be a classic if he put the time into the comedy part as he did into the drama. Boomerang is the perfect example of how you balance the love story and comedy. This one had jokes but I appreciated the drama, love story way more. Love the different twist. Loved Sandler in that. Loved how he called out Eddie subliminaly with him quitting the stand up circle. And I know she won't get credit but Pam (Martin) looked good for her age. And I like the ending. Sure it Hollywood-esque. But I still like how it didn't go totally predictable.

The gay twist was way too obvious the way it was written. And the tampon joke was too much white humor. The comedy just needed more of that cruel Chris Rock joke. Like the Amy Winehouse, Kennedy, Nick Cannon jokes.
