I got back into card collecting about two years ago. Those Jersey patch book cards of certain players are very coveted. Those panini prestige boxes cost about $125 a pop but they have alot of hits in it. Collecting is fun but for cards on the high end, its a very expensive hobby.

You have to spend some money to make money in cards :yeshrug:

Prices are outrageous on most of it but not everything. There's stuff I've been waiting on forever that's popping up and I've picked up a couple cards so far.

Very rarely anymore. Too many people aren't forthright about condition. I just bought a Morant Silver Luck of the Lottery Prizm and it had scuffs all over the back of it. Not a peep about it in the description. Sending it back. :snoop:

I used to buy raw on the regular but it's gotten pretty dicey in the past couple years when the prices exploded.

For me it’s the former. It was a hobby as a kid and a good walk down memory lane. The love for it got rekindled a year or so ago.
When I get back tonight I'm going to take a pics of my old collection. I got back a few years ago just getting some Millsap, Teague, Hawks cards here and there. But didn't really know what "new" stuff to get. Thanks to this thread (props to everyone) I may try to get some new stuff. I loved opening packs as a kid. Now maybe I can bust some boxes as an adult

What got you back into it ? For me it was the Raptors acquiring Kawhi Leonard.I wanted a Kawhi rookie and i got sucked back into the hobby after that..the thrill of chasing things and other star player rookies, its like opening a bag of doritos cant stop at 1...I went from buying a single KL rookie card in the summer of 2018 to having about 150 graded cards on hand....

Just remembered I got a few boxes in my closet. Got a Jeter and Griffey Jr. rookie card. 2-3 Drew Brees ones. A few other decent stuff. :ehh:

Jeter rookies started skyrocketing from his HOF induction. If thats in good condition, you might got something there...

I do. Not as often as I buy slabbed. But I do.

I’ve made a good chunk of change buying raw and grading out gems. Definitely high risk. But for some cards/sets, it’s the only way to get a piece of the action.
