I remember you posting about having his rookie cards yesterday. & I only have one. So I bought one this morning at 3 am when I got off work. shyt is eerie

Nothing wrong with Donruss. It’s available at most retail spots and is a fine set in the affordable price range

Theres fewer print runs and alot of limited parallel cards numbered now compared to the junk wax era (90s)

I just got into this to collect a few cards but theres real money to be made in this hobby if you know what ur doing...you can do both.

I would say Mahomes is second in value to every NFL player ever at the moment behind Brady. He's been incredible so far but let that sink in. His shyt goes for more than Manning, a guy who won five MVPs, a couple Super Bowls and had a bunch of passing records when he retired. So if you're buying into Mahomes right now, his prices have basically factored in multiple MVPs, Super Bowls and other records.

Now, maybe he'll accomplish all of that and go down as the GOAT or top three. But there's a bar set for him now and if his play slips at all, those prices are gonna come down accordingly and people will move onto the next hot thing. Plenty of guys were worth a ton but fell off due to injury or play and their cards carry minimal weight. I think he's the real deal and will continue his level of play or close to it but keep that in mind if you decide to buy some of his cards.

Maybe you believe in Kyler Murray. His cards are fairly reasonable right now. If he breaks out next year, his prices will explode too.

If you are buying to sell later, I would always recommend buying graded cards, particularly high grade. Know that PSA 10 Gem Mint cards carry a premium over BGS 9.5 Gem Mint cards. BGS 10s carry a premium over both but personally, I think it's a waste of money to pay that premium. Stick with a PSA 10 for less.

There has been a trimming scandal boiling over in the past couple years so even if the card is graded, do some homework on it beforehand, especially for numbered em rds. WorthPoint | Antiques, Art and Collectibles - What's it Worth? | WorthPoint and Market Price Research - PWCC (will need a free account for this one) are your best resources for research.

For high end RCs for both football and basketball, the National Treasures RPAs are always the most coveted rookie card now. That's as high end as it gets but there's also Flawless, Impeccable and Immaculate as well.

I stay away from all BNC,PWCC and Probstein auctions....all of them are known trimmers and conmen.

Although im not impressed with the bump in this years hobby prices...im going retail only this year i aint paying no 350-400 for optic.

I 100% avoid BNC. Definite trimmer and overprices his shyt anyway.

PWCC and Probstein, I simply do my homework on the cards ahead of time with them now but I apply that to everyone as best I can. The other problem with avoiding them altogether is they're two of the few that sell good stuff by auction. There's so many awful BINs and BOs on eBay that are ridiculously overpriced; people who have no intention of selling unless they can gouge you.

Usually they trim the high end LeBron,Luka,Durant stuff but i dont want to do business period with nikkas who are scamming on any level...

Unfortunately alot of folk are gonna try to profit off his demise....I want a Kobe auto but ill probably wait now cuz i dont want to get gouged...

Yeah I figured so. I just wanted to add to my collection but i won’t be surprised if the seller cancels the order after what happened today.

I sell some stuff here and there but most of my Kobe stuff I planned on always keeping unless something desperate came up and I was forced to sell. The way his stuff is selling today because of his death, I could get hundreds of thousands for my collection...but I cannot do it. I hope I can hold onto what I have for a long time.
