These price jumps are so silly.
1990 Leaf Frank Thomas PSA 10s were $125 a month ago and now they're $350-400. There's a couple 1990 Topps Tiffany PSA 10 auctions going. I'm gonna try for one before they're $2K (been $600 recently but who knows where they'll wind up).
1993 Topps Derek Jeter PSA 10s were $225 a month ago and now they're $425.
1992 Topps Shaq PSA 10s were $175 a month ago and now they're $325.
1995 Finest KG PSA 10s were $400 in March and the last auction hit $1,000.
I knew all the ridiculous prices for current players would eventually trickle down and I didn't buy any of these guys when they were dirt cheap.
I copped a few Larry Walker cards when he made the HOF just in case..1990 UD BGS 9.5 and a bowman tiffany PSA 10...
Yes, centering matters when it comes to grading. Many times there's a premium on the same grade based on centering.I got a question for you guys. I get that PSA grading is kinda of a way to bring scarcity to cards that were overproduced like Griffey upper deck rookie. There’s a trillion out there but way less that are graded 10.
Anyway as an example if I was in the market to buy a Griffey rookie because it was a card I always wanted or lost my cards and wanted one I don’t think I would be to concerned with centering unless it was ridiculously off like really really bad. I would be more concerned about not getting someone’s shytty card they didn’t take care of that’s why I would be interested in buying a graded one.
So ultimately my question is do they grade down on centering because if they didn’t there would maybe be to many 10s out there because people took care of there cards. Or is that something collectors really care about and kind of insist it’s part of the grading system?

PSA tends to be more lenient with centering, imo. I've seen quite a few off-centered PSA 10s so I'd still send to PSA as long as the rest of the card is clean. If you had a Gem mint card that was off centered slightly would you send it to BGS instead because of the sub grading ?
Because a 9 centering sub would/couldstill be a BGS 9.5 card and thats slightly more valuable than a PSA 9 is my thinking...
