You'd have to score a round 10-10 to have a draw. I rarely see it in the United States, but it doesn't surprise me a UK cat (Bellew) had a card with a 10-10 round.Whats very strange about those cards is only 1 scored it a draw
Vinnie Paz from JMT?
These are all great points but the one I bolded I think is the most important for Ward.main things I learned from Kovalev vs Ward
- Ward can pretty much forget about throwing the right hand against this guy, except if they are on the inside, it's too dangerous
- Kovalev is faster than I thought and has an excellent timing
- I was pretty much right when I said Kovalev can't adjust and he just does well what he's conditioned to, but his set of technical skills is wide so he usually solves it, inside fighting is still his weakness, he can be beat there.
- While Kovalev also could do something with Ward's inside fighting he got tired and out muscled there in the second half so for Ward it's worth to force the fight to there as he also did it.
- Ward was proven to be physically stronger and had more stamina but his speed is visibly not the old, but that was expected tbh... He is 32 in a heavier division.
- Ward has a big heart, not that I would have doubted it before but he had a chance to prove it since probably first time in his career he had a razor close fight
- Whatever what Ward does there will be lots of people who will hate him, even if he beats Kovalev on the rematch more convincingly, even if he does... anything, Kovalev is in a luckier spot, even people who don't really like him otherwise (like me) respects his fighting skills and not hating on him blindly.
- Ward has an amazing resilience
you can score a round even in a professional fightYou'd have to score a round 10-10 to have a draw. I rarely see it in the United States, but it doesn't surprise me a UK cat (Bellew) had a card with a 10-10 round.
I can't remember the last time I saw a 10-10 on an official scorecard, is that even possible? @patscorpio
it's not apple's to apple's when its nikkas like Floyd/Canelo/Pac every else though YUP.
As far as my ggg comments well friend simply don't reply no one is forcing you to put your cape on for golovkin you in here on some "leave him alone in his cheap seats lets talk about Kovalev/Ward "
that's exactly what we've been doing I have more posts about this fight in this thread than you do.
As far as the rest of that I break even amount i highly doubt it's 250k (damn near close to Canelo vs jobber #s..) for two guys who have never sold 1 ppv before and one isn't a ratings or attendance draw in Kov. When it was your boy there were interviews specifically stating anything under 150k is failure there has been none of that said for this fight and just like Cotto Rocnation pays parts of Ward's purse.
tl:dr fat dan don't know shyt, ppv sold over 97k, unified 175 champ, #1 p4p, you can do nada
These are all great points but the one I bolded I think is the most important for Ward.
He needs to decide if he can sacrifice a little bit of size, to get that old speed back. I was shocked seeing Kovalev beat him to the punch, because I thought as Kov as slow. It turned out Kov was quicker, but Dre is faster. Also after a re-watch rounds; 1, 3, 6, 10 how you scored should dictate how you scored the fight. Another reason people are screaming robbery is--if you don't watch extremely closely/have beginners eyes you can't see the work Ward is doing on the inside. I think that is why a lot of people in attendance weren't elated when the scorecards were read.
Byrd declined to say who he thought deserved victory or what he thought of the scoring. Two of the three judges had Ward winning the final six rounds. “I think he was fighting better on the inside,” Byrd said of why Ward was so effective in the second half of the fight.
Byrd backed the way he handled the bout in the face of criticism he should have taken greater initiative and made himself more of a presence, particularly in regard to allegations Ward was guilty of excessive holding. “If both boxers are close together and one boxer is throwing punches and landing punches, particularly to the body, you tell me which one of those fighters is holding?” Byrd said, alluding to the excellent body work that Ward did.

Judges scorecards:
Judge John McKale gave Andre Ward rounds 5, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12.
Judge Burt Clements gave Andre Ward rounds 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, and 11
Judge Glenn Towbridge gave Andre Ward rounds 3, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12
You had KKK winning the 3rd? I thought that round belonged to Dre
i most certainly did breh....as did 2 of the judges on the official cards..which made it even more remarkable ward dug himself out of the hole he was in early to make it close...ward was not fighting like ward from jump..kovalev clearly dictated this fight early until ward started making his adjustments by mid rounds
You didn't DVR as it was airing breh?i still need to find a copy thats not like 2 fukking gigs that has the pre and post fight stuff i like..instead of just the fight itself
