Kovalev won rounds 1,2, 3 and 6 with knockdown making up the other round. Ward dominated or edged the rest.

Clearly people scoring it for kov only scored aggression like paulie was saying. Dre did more effective work by far. Kov was doing barely more than ineffective aggression. Rematch will be even more wide for ward since he'll be better acclimated to the weight and already figured out kkkov. I never pay attention to Ledermans card and I had Kovalev winning. Its no way Ward won every close round

really, in my eyes, if you really watch it close, Ward dictated the 2nd half of the fight, aside from a few rounds almost to the point of domination. Kovalev dominated the early part of the fight with his length and boxing. it was a close fight but Ward definitely looked stronger down the stretch.

The same people that will be stanning for Kovalev in the media, are the same people who gave Arum and Pacquiao infinite passes on not making the fight with Floyd happen. Ward and Floyd are worlds apart in charecter and personality, but after this fight they will try to make Andre boxingscene biggest Villian.

I mean... He's jumping up in weight to fight an elite fighter.

He probably would never actually KO Kov but he could knock him down with one of those Flash punches. Ward still had a lot of snap to his punches even at the 12th... Just wasn't as accurate as he used to be and that was probably rust and the size/weight/reach Kovalev possessed.

He was getting a lot of leverage and twist/pop underneath them arms and ribs of Kov.

Around round 4...funny you mention that cause I was texting my boy not watching it and said Ward figured him out after that knockdown.

Max was right, Ward basically got every close round. Massive overcompensation.

Kovalev's rounds were all big, so when Ward starting doing better he got the benefit every time.

He definitely won 6 rounds, but I am still torn on that 12th for some reason.

I will analyze a bit more tomorrow. I think people are praising all the body shots Ward landed in the fight, but ignored the body shots Kovalev was throwing in that 12th.

I had Ward winning the exact same rounds as you. Gave Kovalev the 12th, but like many, will have to watch it again tomorrow on mute. Wanna see the rematch so Ward can erase the doubt, clearly has him figured now.

disagree. no, I dont think he will knock Kovalev out, but not because of lack of power, more because Kovalev is too good and has a good chin. Kovalev is also a surprisingly good defensive fighter.
