i meant as far as Andre Ward is concerned.

Kov is still the 2nd best LHW in the world by far.

I mean... He's jumping up in weight to fight an elite fighter.

He probably would never actually KO Kov but he could knock him down with one of those Flash punches. Ward still had a lot of snap to his punches even at the 12th... Just wasn't as accurate as he used to be and that was probably rust and the size/weight/reach Kovalev possessed.

But Wards body game was

He was getting a lot of leverage and twist/pop underneath them arms and ribs of Kov.

Bet if Ward would have spent his whole life at 168 like a certain middleweight nikka would be crying all day. Instead SOGGang cleared shyt out and moved up and fought the best fighter/champ in weight class because that's what #1 p4p champs do meanwhile the reigning middleweight champ sitting in the cheap seats watching how real nikkas do it

I never pay attention to Ledermans card and I had Kovalev winning. Its no way Ward won every close round

but he did... on all 3 judges cards.. it wasn't even a split decision..

Gimme the pic...i had it 116-114 for Kovalev but

really, in my eyes, if you really watch it close, Ward dictated the 2nd half of the fight, aside from a few rounds almost to the point of domination. Kovalev dominated the early part of the fight with his length and boxing. it was a close fight but Ward definitely looked stronger down the stretch.

Neither fighter dominated except kovalev in first 3 rounds.

Kovalev didn't even throw his right hand. Even with all his power he was worried about getting countered

he threw it but ward was able to make him.miss a lot

also, I called a round where Lederman gave to Kovalev, the 10th maybe? it was a round I thought Ward clearly won and Lederman gave it to Kovalev and I was like

Lederman has always been biased to a degree where I almost think he is racist....because it sticks out in my mind that a lot of times he was against the black fighter. the only time he is partial to the black guy is when he is fighting another black guy.

we gotta talk about how solid ward's chin is though. if that right hand that put him down landed on anybody else, they're leaving on a stretcher. that shyt was hard and solid as fukk. I was honestly surprised he got hit so cleanly. shyt had me nervous as hell but I knew he would adjust.

but kov deserves major props too. dude has a great skill set. him and lomachenko are easily the two best euro fighters in the world right now.

Ward's was a subtle domination. My posts in this thread point it out. Kovalev looked tired late in the fight. he lost control of the distance, was getting pushed back, and was eating hella body shots. what Ward was doing wasnt eye-popping but he was giving Kovalev some work in there.

one thing I will say to anyone saying Ward didnt win, Ward's bodywork was tremendous. Kovalev did good bodywork too, but Ward was superior and if the judges counted that, then its a Ward victory. kinda reminds me a lil of when Shane beat Oscar at 154. Oscar was winning easy early and Shane just worked him with the bodyshots. bodyshots just dont get much credit as they should sometimes.

That's exactly the fight that came to mind. Lampley and them were going on and on about what Oscar was doing, and not acknowledging the body work Mosley was doing. Mosley ended up getting the W.
