It has been officially announced that Forever Entertainment and SEGA will be releasing Panzer Dragoon: Remake and Panzer Dragoon II Zwei: Remake! The first title is due out by late 2019, and while we don’t have platforms just yet it is likely that it will release to modern consoles and possibly PC. The games will feature brand new graphics and will remain faithful to the game’s original story. It is mentioned that “several modifications” will be made to the game to make it “more attractive to modern players”. This could be disconcerting, if they veer too far off from the original gameplay, but we’re hoping it isn’t too radically different.
The official press release:
Forever Entertainment together with SEGA Holding Co., Ltd. from Japan will co-create and publish Panzer Dragoon: Remake and Panzer Dragoon II Zwei: Remake. The premiere of the first part is planned before the end of 2019!
Panzer Dragoon: Remake is a refreshed version of Panzer Dragoon. The original version of the game had its premiere on the Sega Saturn console in 1995 and was well received by both players and critics. The entire Panzer Dragoon series has been repeatedly remade and released on many platforms. The last re-launch took place in April 2018 on Xbox One, where players can play Panzer Dragoon Orta with a backward compatibility. The new version of the game will be characterized by a completely new graphics compatible with today’s standards and several modifications of the game, making it more attractive to modern players, while remaining faithful to the original in terms of story. The first materials from the game will be presented in the upcoming months!

DotEmu has released some new Streets of Rage 4 screenshots, one including a gameplay gif showing off the game’s new juggling mechanic. You can view that up on top in video format.
Below we have a few new screenshots showing off more of Streets of Rage 4’s art style. So far the screenshots don’t show anything brand new, still only includes Axel and Blaze. I guess we will see more announcements come 2019.

Retro-bit Gaming reveals SEGA Nomad styled portable Genesis
The 2019 Consumer Electronics Show is underway, and Retro-bit (the ones behind those SEGA controllers) tweeted out photos of a prototype of what they call the Genesis Portable System. The handheld resembles the beloved SEGA Nomad, with several differences. Aside from different button shapes and placement, the portable promises HDMI out and has a widescreen display. Based on the photos, there is an NTSC/PAL switcher and a reset button (which made X-Men unbeatable on the Nomad thanks to the “reset the computer” feature). The bottom hasn’t been seen, so no idea if there is a player 2 controller input. Also no promise of an SD card slot yet.
Despite the Nomad resemblance, it is important to note that this is not a Nomad and there is no promise of quality emulation yet. I know the Nomad gets a lot of grief for the battery life, but I have to say as a longtime Nomad owner that battery technology has improved to the point where one can get 6 hours of playtime on quality rechargables. Heck, I had a 3DS die on me in less time than that. Coupled with near perfect sound and the ability to mod the display to modern technology on a Nomad, this Genesis Portable System is no heir to the Nomad throne just yet. We’ll share more as we hear it!
Update: Retro-bit confirmed a player 2 input in a tweet to us.
