I sent my camera and lens in for repair. $900 for the pair. Camera body was cracked and autofocus wouldnt work properly. The lens was loose all over, but still performed pretty good.

I've been a fan of photography since I was a kid on Myspace.

Always tried taking flicks and shyt, got way better over the years but never really went for it. It's harder to stand out now too I think. Nowadays its so easy. EVERYONE is a fukking photographer on IG. Hate that its kind of a cliche. Part of all this I feel is to find a way around it...but whatever.

But around November I finally bought myself a freaking camera. Nikon D5300. Came with so much shyt, tripod, controller, external flash, a fake-ish wide and telephoto lens, a bag, etc, for about $600.

I really wanted the D5500, but the the price difference was too steep based on the fact that the specs are nearly identical, outside of the touch screen.

But yeah, I'm glad I found this thread. Definitely going to post some stuff, feedback/advice is appreciated brehs. I pretty much keep it on Manual cause I'm still learning the basics.

P.S I only have the very default lens it comes with. 18-55mm VR.

As I take more pictures I now see how limited I am with just this one lens. Really need more. It's just crazy because I see lens usually more expensive than the actual body. Kind of lost here. Where should I begin my search? Any recommendations for a wide lens? I've seen a much better "default" lens, 18-140mm, should I look into it? What about a telephoto lens? Any reply is very much appreciated brehs.

My first DSLR was a D5300 with the kit lens. I bought the 50mm 1.8 lens and it made a huge difference. I bought mines used off Amazon for like $175.
