questions brehs

what's the best way to shoot? viewfinder or flip out screen?

i figured they were both the same seeing how it's the lens and camera do the work. just different how you want to look at the view. but then my boy told me the viewfinder is better. that's where you get the "47 points of focus" and that doesn't happen when you live view. plus processes the pic faster if you want to take them in rapid succession

so of course i go to the net for more info.... it's split 50/50 on which one take the better photos

so let me ask the coli brehs since i tend to like the type of photos y'all take and it lines up with what i take also

techinically it doesnt matter. but some cameras shoot exactly the same with viewfinder/screen, and some are ass with the screen. Nikon view finder shooting is not as good as sony, fuji, or some canon bodies. sony view finder shooting is better than canons with the dual pixel AF which is kinda on par with the fuji phase detect. then nikon is lagging behind. the screen is dope, specially if you want crazy angles and you got the tilt jawn.

for burst shooting, the viewfiender probably best tho.

Really depends for me on what I'm doing
Am I on a job and or straight up shooting? Then I'm looking through the view finder.

Am I taking pictures of the sunrise/sunset? If I enjoy keeping my eye sight I'm using a tripod and the flip screen. That or i'm wearing sunglassss if looking through view finder.

If I'm setting up a long exposure shot? I'm in manual focus anyway usually set to infinity and using the flip screen so I can control the one focal point with the flip screen.

lets say i'm taking a photo.. i have it on a tripod and there will be no variables to the two pictures

one on i use the viewfinder.. on the other i use the screen.. which one would come out better? or is there no difference besides preference and angles and stuff like that?

So I was going through some old photos I had. Of course uploading them here after I uploaded them to FB are going to make them look like shyt but I'll continue.

I took this picture with my entry level $400 Nikon d3200 over a year ago before I decided to upgrade to the Nikon D750. ($2000) This wasn't even taken with a crazy lens or anything, cheap glass, I believe it was a Sigma 18-250mm f4.5 dx lens. Used maybe a $20 variable nd filter right after the sunset. I guess I just wanted to show people you don't need crazy budget breaking camera and glass to get good shots you just have to be willing to be creative and think outside the box of what you want to do with your shot.

It matters on a long exposure so it depends on what you're shooting. Really anything under 1/40 sec, you should use a tripod. So, considering all things are the same, hand holding a shot with a 1.5 sec exposure is going to be terrible. Camera shake is going to be a major problem. A tripod will make a much better shot. On the other hand, shooting somewhere with lots of available light and shooting at 1/100 sec. A tripod wont be of much help. Maybe if you're shooting landscape and want to get an even shot.

I used to use my 70-200 a lot for candids of people.....but then I saw my bro shoot a whole wedding on a 35mm and he just moved wherever he needed to get his shot and I realized I was "hiding" behind the 70-200mm. 35 is perhaps one of the most versatile lenses out.
I want it for weddings for the candid shots. I hate seeing a good shot and aim and everyone poses.

Yup either the perfect candid shots are replaced with a goofy pose and smile or they just turn and stare at you with the death eye while a piece of food hangs limply from their lower lip.

Walked around last night during the storm with a tripod and a garbage bag over my camera with a small hole cut out for my lens. Was looking for people on snow mobiles and quads but did not find any. Eventually I got cold and started to trek back home in the foot of snow, my previous tracks have since been covered due to drifting winds.

Finally I saw a snow plow and I long exposured that.
