Baker's situation was for half that amount, he took a 25 percent cut to be released. So that would be giving up 10 mil of that 40 for that same percentage. Raiders still paying 30, and I'm not sure they want to do that much. Plus baker is not on derek's level, so that 25 percent discount would be too steep.

I've seen a lot of the Raiders should draft Anthony Richardson at QB, and that he has the most potential to be the next elite QB but he also has the biggest bust potential

I’ve watched him play a few different times along with the other top Qbs. I see a gap between him and the top 2 for sure. The Kentucky QB is questionable to me because of the lack of talent he was around. He’s more of a toss up to me than Richardson. Richardson I think will need to go somewhere that doesn’t need him to take over year one or two as he learns.
As a Raider supporter I cannot ride with picking him at that spot. Way too much needed to take that chance.
If the "waiting game" is actually on the table, I don't understand why the Raiders wouldn't let Carr talk to other teams. If teams start to low ball, the Raiders still have the option to let the guarantees hit and trade Carr after the fact.
I believe the fear is if he talks to other teams, he can negotiate a contract with them on the sly, and they'll tell him "Hey, you know, if they cut you, we'll pay you that same contract since we won't have to give up picks in a trade", which would in theory allow Carr to veto any trade.
