I'm confused on one thing:
When Elliott showed Mr. Robot that there were no paper records in the NYC building, he looking surprised and pissed off that he was being played by the Dark Army. My question is, how did he not know there were no paper records in the NYC building. He was there when Tyrell was spazzing out about it

It seemed Mr Robot knew as much as we did
the plan was to fly and deliver all the paper records over the weekend. What we don't know is how much of that did Angela know, as it seemed that Tyrell was behind this whole thing, when he said he needed Dark Army's full force, he probably meant this: fukking up every building and let Elliot distract himself with the one in NYC.

I was reading up about the fish in the show yesterday and stumbled on this

TL;DR - Every part of the sequence represents how the events of how the fsociety revolution unfolds. The key represents who is the leader of fsociety.

Each section of Elliot's dream sequence represents how fscociety and their revolution happens. In the first part, we see Mr. Robot give him the key and says "it's made in your orient" (could just be referring to the mask). We know that Mr. Robot himself is the true creator of fsociety and in season 1 it's revealed he's Elliot the whole time. Thus, this could be seen as Mr. Robot handing over the reigns to Elliot.

The second part of the dream has us meet what I presume to be young Darlene (from her initial attitude). Anyway, Darlene finds the key on the ground, says "I think you dropped this", then leaves. In season 2, we know that Elliot goes to jail and ends up leaving Darlene in charge by default. Darlene makes it visible at times that she's in over her head and that she doesn't completely want this. By the end of the season, Elliot is back in charge. It mirrors the scene in the dream.

Finally, I think the next 3 scenes are what is going to happen to end the series (I look at it as 5 seasons). This is mostly due to the fact that Elliot, Tyrell, and Angela are being set up as a team for next season with Phase 2 and Angela/Tyrell's phone call. Also, we know that Elliot and Tyrell will be working together for a while. At the end of s2e11 we hear the "I think the is the beginning of a beautiful friendship" in the scene where Tyrell and Elliot reunite. Next scene Elliot comes home and finds Tyrell with the key. This could mean that Elliot loses control of fsociety to Tyrell. It would not surprise me since Tyrell is power hungry and goes to extreme lengths to ensure his plan by shooting Elliot. Also, if Elliot needs time to recover it would allow Tyrell to seize power while he's gone. The only thing I can't make sense of is that Tyrell has the key the whole scene and Elliot never gets it.

In the next scene, Angela and Elliot are having dinner when Elliot discovers the key and hands it over to Angela after she considers it a proposal. I assume this means that Elliot just finds himself in charge again but differs to Angela. Maybe Tyrell fukks up and get himself killed or something. Not a whole ton to go off of here.

So then that leaves the last scene. Angela gives Elliot the key back and says it didn't fit. So the series ends with Angela handing fsociety back to Elliot. If you buy into the "made in your orient" thing too that can apply here as well.

Overall, this theory is early but the way the first two scenes play out compared to how the first two seasons played out it's a possibility. Fscociety could also be represented by the key, seeing as the encrypted all the data from E Corp and only kept the key. Also, in the behind the scenes, Esmail says that this is his favorite episode of Season 1, and that everything in the scene is very important, and that it tells you everything without actually saying anything.

PS - Anyone have any clue as to what Angela is saying before she gets cut off at the end?

So far - the key/leadership symbolism is playing out exactly as it was in the dream.:ohhh:

S1 -Mr. Robot gives Elliot the key first. I guess this would have been when he figured out he was Mr. Robot. He also says that the key is "Made In Your Orient' - which I took to mean that fSociety was essentially formed by the events that shaped Elliot into who he is. ie his father's death.

S2 - Darlene gives him the key next - when he got out of prison, he assumes control of fSociety from her.

S3 - The point we're at now is when he comes back to his apartment to find Tyrell has the key - could be a metaphor for his input into Stage 2, or the fact that the FBI believe he's the mastermind.

S4? -Next Elliot gives the key to Angela when he finds it in the fish he's eating, and she accepts it like he proposed marriage. I feel like we're about to see this happen, especially after last week. God knows what she'll get up to with it.

S5? - She gives the key back to Elliot saying it doesn't fit - Maybe she figures out she's been played by whiter0se

Esmail might have given us the broad strokes of the story already, back in Season 1 :wow:

BTW has there been a good theory as to why fish are such an important symbol in this show? Yesterday you had Elliot straight looking at one in the ECorp conference room. Then in his first black out, he wakes up in a cab with a damn fishbowl. It's like in every important scene there's a dam fish somewhere :mindblown:

ITS A SIMULATION..THEY ARE ALL JUST FISH IN A BOWL :ohhh:
