Think Budden wanted to set the Market for Podcast deals. Rogan deal essentially cut the legs and leverage they had to stand on. Budden Pod was most valuable to Spotify. Now an argument can be made they dont need him or his audience.

Best way to explain it is Pat Mahomes deal. If Deshaun Watson was trying to get 600 million for 12 years and Mahomes took 500 for 12 years, Watson (budden) can forget even asking for what he may have wanted.

Now even worse imagine your negotiating with your team to be highest paid QB and they go and sign a new QB. Not just any QB put Peyton Manning or Tom Brady. Haha Joe is hurt understandably.

They can and will land on their feet.

Mal confirmed this theory to start the pod. If your selling bootleg DVDs for $10 and the competition across the street starts selling the same DVD for $5 its gonna be hard to get that $10. Rogan stepped on their potential earnings.

He reminds everyone that's hes one if the greatest rappers of all time every month or so. Burr has been podding since like 2008 and Bill Simmons when I used to fukk with him around that time had his podcast on ESPN.

why you bringing up the white people. What that got to do with burdens and what he did for the podcasting game.

Rogan didn’t start selling for $5 fam. He came and sold for $50 and now buddens just wants his proper piece on the same type of deals they gave rogan.

The market is becoming too saturated. Everyone is just following their favorite celebrities now rather than genuinely enjoying podcast for its content. If someone has an audience they are gonna make a podcast, especially in these times where there’s not a lot of entertainment opportunities out there because of the pandemic.

Joe was one of the first to do this type of content. Probably the 5th out to do an somewhat in-depth hip hop black cultural podcast and make it work. That’s early.

But they haven’t really done much to really expand. I think joe’s biggest audience came from ES and the fallout from that. I think they would have had twice teh audience they have now if joe stayed on complex.

That's what made me laugh about the whole rant at Charlamagne. He acts like he ain't got a job at Revolt or like he didn't have one at Complex. Joe is sounding like Kanye to me right now. More than willing to work with the white man until he doesn't get the funding he wants then it's "the white man is racist and ain't paying us our worth".

I also predicted dead on what Spotify's respone to them is. I knew Spotify would hit them with the fact that their podcast has stagnated and they want to see what they are doing to grow the customer base which Joe confirmed on this pod. I think my guess was right to in regards to the bonuses. That while Joe looked at it as a bonus for being number one spotify gave the bonus based on new listeners. So when they hit number one the second year that didn't guarantee a bonus because they didn't bring in many new users. I equated it to salesmen in my corporation whose bonus benchmarks are new sales made each year. Even though they've brought in customers the previous year who signed 5 year deals come year two it's as if those customers don't count.

I ain't saying that to shyt on Joe or anything but I've seen from the outside how these corporations work and how cutthroat they are.

yeah, this is pretty much what is was getting at earlier

ES brought Joe Budden a lot of fans due to AK and a Complex having such a large reach

but if you don’t do do interviews and if your “hot takes” never go viral who are the new people that you’re pulling in every week?

Joe owns that show that’s on revolt and why you bringing up complex from years ago. Are you listening to him talk about how he’s been smarting up?
