He was already giving them a portion of his tour money.why do you keep ignoring the 360 portion of the contract? Joe has been talking about ownership for a while now

So you’re turning down $20 million to talk 3 hours a day, two times a week huh?

what lol
nikkas just be talking ...how you forget combat jack ??
My issue is he didn’t even try to counter. Nobody listens to their old episodes; as long as I’m getting money off those ads, they can place what they want on them IMO.It’s not just $20 million. Spotify wants to own his catalog, put ads on all his old episodes, wants to have editing power over his content, a cut of the live shows and a cut out of anything else they do outside of the podcast. (According to him to be fair). If you can find a deal for 10 million with complete autonomy and ownership, I’d take the 10. I think people keep underselling them with the “or nothing” part of the argument. They built the podcast without Spotify, all Spotify did was give them a platform not the infrastructure.
I’m theory, Spotify takes his listeners and tells advertisers that X amount of listeners listens to this podcast twice a week for 2 plus hours at a time and charges them an amount of money.Word. Podcasts on Spotify are free. You don’t gotta pay to listen. So how he make them 9 figures
So Combat Jack didn’t exist?IMO budden introduced the hip hop world to podcasting.
Your not getting money off those ads. Your getting your flat $20 million. According to Joe, 20,000 people listened to their first episode last week.My issue is he didn’t even try to counter. Nobody listens to their old episodes; as long as I’m getting money off those ads, they can place what they want on them IMO.
I wouldn’t give up editing rights or ownership, but a portion of proceeds from touring isn’t a big problem if tens of millions on the table.
Companies aren’t giving him $10 million to literally do whatever he wants and then not run ads during the show. It’s nothing in it for the company at the that point.
He was already giving them a portion of his tour money.
He didn’t even try to negotiate what they offered (his words). He could’ve easily countered with they will continue to get tour proceeds but nothing else.
If you can’t make $20 million turn into other ventures long term, I don’t know what to tel you. They literally have 5 free days a week to do other things.YES nikka ....and I will do you one better ill turn down the 50 miilion they offered Dave Chappelle . Why is this so hard to understand that some people think in LONG terms instead of short term??
I feel all of that could be negotiable though. My issue is that if the dollars were of a desirable amount, why not counter instead of completely burning the bridge down?Your not getting money off those ads. Your getting your flat $20 million. According to Joe, 20,000 people listened to their first episode last week.
That’s the biggest part of this that I’m not getting. Just allowing ads alone would probably up the offer a lot. This time they used Greys Anatomy being number one for so long while ignoring that they having high ratings allows the network to then go to ad agencies and get the bag based off them being number one. By not allowing ads Joe is taking away that ability which then means them being number one doesn’t do much for Spotify’s bottom line.My issue is he didn’t even try to counter. Nobody listens to their old episodes; as long as I’m getting money off those ads, they can place what they want on them IMO.
