Israeli Strike On Gaza French Institute Incomprehensible: Paris

France reacted to an Israeli strike on a French institute in Gaza with "astonishment" and "incomprehension", Paris's Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna said on Friday, demanding a full investigation into why the building was hit.

Earlier the ministry said no nationals or staff were present when the strike hit the institute, which runs cultural outreach programmes.

"We made public today that the French Cultural Institute in Gaza was hit a few days ago in a way that caused astonishment, incomprehension and which led France to call for explanations from the Israeli authorities," Colonna told French media on a visit to Nigeria's capital Abuja.

"(We seek) to understand how a French cultural institute can be the target of an Israeli strike. We are therefore in dialogue with our Israeli partners at different levels," she said.

Fighting between Palestinian militant group Hamas and Israel was triggered by Hamas's bloody raids on October 7, which Israeli officials say killed more than 1,400 people.

The health ministry in Hamas-run Gaza says more than 9,200 people have died in Israeli bombardments, mostly women and children.

Colonna repeated that Israel had the right to protect itself and its population, but also a duty to respect international humanitarian law.
I love the fact that French are showing more outrage for an empty building than 9000 civilians. Having to repeat that Israel has the right to defend itself is just a cherry on top.

Hamas is in the wrong here. They should've cleared Gaza and let everyone leave before the war that they started came to them.

There's a reason that Gaza has almost as many civilian deaths in 1 month, as Ukraine has in two years.

Human shields is right.
Hamas is intentionally doing this to hurt Israel. They're sacrificing Palestinian lives to weaken Israeli support on the international stage.

They've taken the bait and another month or so of the images we're seeing coming out of Gaza and they're going to find a lot of their allies will have put them at arms length.

In a month or so the world's attention will be elsewhere and we won't care, tbh.

As is, support for Israel hasn't budged. The furthest allies have gone is to ask them to ne nice

That’s pretty much my view. We will move on to Friendsgiving, Black Friday, thanksgiving, Christmas, NYE, tax season, and this will be gone from the collective mind just like Ukraine is for the most part.

After that Trumps trials will be in motion and I doubt folks will give a damn.

US warns Israel amid Gaza carnage it doesn’t have long before support erodes

Picking up the phone works.
This shyt is so transparently goofy.

They out here telling American media that behind the scene's they are not happy with Israel's actions. This is textbook handwringing these fukkers do when one of their dictator allies does something that is wrong. (look at the Saudis, look at the Latin American dictators this country backed, Sadam in the 80s, etc)

Yep. Hamas is pulling the trigger on all the bombs Israel has dropped

I won't discount this being part of an elaborate performance and I don't believe govs have feelings.

But I do think that they feel pressure and that it is among the concerns they have to deal with. They at least have to take into account the consequences of that pressure on electoral prospects for example.

So considering this admission as well as positions they started to temper and walk back from, I'd say this is good justification for anybody wanting the violence to stop to keep on voicing their discontent.

They should've done this 2 weeks ago. They wouldn't have bombed Israel to locate Hamas if it happened in Jerusalem
Two weeks ago we sent top aides, the president, and military leaders in an attempt to discuss ways Israel could achieve their goals without making a lot of the same mistakes we’ve made in the past.

Make no mistake: what is, has or will unfold in Gaza is purely an Israeli decision,” the US Marine Corps’ top general, Eric Smith, told a gathering of reporters in Washington on Friday evening.

“We are not planning with them,” Smith said, describing the advisory mission as “a professional military exchange.”

Take what a troll says seriously
Take what a white man from Tennessee has to say seriously about equality, human rights, progressive thinking and forward moving society — let alone discussions of being appalled about racism:skip:

Where would the Gazans have gone to? Maybe so many Gazans are dying because Israel has dropped more bombs on Palestinians in a week than the US dropped in months in Afghanistan. Just say you support apartheid. You're no different than the people who supported apartheid in South Africa.

All the US has to do is tell them to stop and they'll stop. The US government has far more power than Israel. The us government agrees with the genocide of Palestinians because it helps an "ally"
