@GoldenGlove @2gunsup

Props for putting me on Plex.
I have it currently streaming on my PS3 and it's flawless.
It even shows the album art of the movie.

I would like to use XBMC on my iMac but since iam new to it, it's a little confusing.

How does the cable card stuff work?

All you do is ask for it from your TV provider and they give you one?

Just finished setting up a new file server with WHS 2011 & FlexRaid. Tossed it in my basement with a ethernet cord and power cable. Cramming 3x3TB drives into my small HTPC was not what was hot in the streets. :troll:

What if you get a cable card from someone else's TV provider? :scheme:

My parents have too much cable for their own good with UVerse, if I call em up and get a cable card would I be able to use it at my house?

Thanks,
What are you guys best Theme for XBMC?

I like Glass.

I'm stuck with DirectTV right now unfortunately. Definitely switching to cable when that contract expires and going this route.

Yep. Just get a tv tuner card. Hauppauge(sp?) sells some. You can record either in Windows media center or use a program like myth tv.

Uverse isn't cable, it's multicast IPTV. No cable card support.

Why worry about leaving it on? My main machine has pretty much been on 24/7 for the last four years.

Yeah...I used to have it.

You wouldn't be able to use someone else's cable at a different house like that regardless though.

If your folks have a spare box at their house, what you could do is hook up a slingbox though. Free cable that way.

I think they do have an extra box.
