Did you install Plex Media Server on your system? If so open it up and configure it. Not sure how it works on Macs though...

The device with the media needs Plex Media Server installed. All other devices just need the specific Plex App they require whether it be some mobile Plex app or Plex Media Center for Windows/Mac computers.

Thanks,
I have it setup.
It found my media.

What the difference between this and XBMC?
Which one is better?

No I do not have DNLA

Ah ok.

What about game consoles? Now that you have Plex running your game systems will be able to play the stuff for you on a TV. You won't get the box art, but you'll have your files there for viewing.

Depends on your needs. Plex makes shyt simple ass fukk to do and just works. XBMC takes alot of tinkering around with to get it set up right but gives you a plethora of options. Streaming your media to on the go type devices Plex wins hands down. It's the reason I run both on my HTPC. To play locally I use XBMC, to play on the go from my iPad or whatever I use Plex.

Add you media to the Plex Server on your iMac.

Update the library, then turn on your PS3, and go to the Video section, you should see the Plex Server pop up. You can go there and select what you want to watch.

How do I get automatic information for my video file in XBMC?

Make sure you have a net connection and it'll automatically scrape the info from websites using the universal scraper.

You can add more specific/niche scrapers if need be.

Make sure your shares are set up correctly, by that I mean make sure you have 'told xbmc' what's inside the share. Movies/TV/music videos etc.

Artwork downloader and CDArt Manager are good add-ons for getting extra fanart for your media.

That Plex interface UI is dope.

I would get another Roku, but I already have a ton of devices that are capable of playing stuff off of the media server. I watched 3 mkvs with my Viera last night with no issues.

Plex has really stepped up their Media Server Web UI. I hated it a couple months back but now its on some other shyt. I find that Plex has an easier time scraping data than XBMC does. With XBMC I have to make sure my file names are in line with its requirements. Plex on the other hand isn't as stringent.
