Here's my DIY kitchen flip from my blog I'm working on. No prior experience. YouTube everything. Spent about $1800 on the entire project so far.

New drywall. By far the most difficult part of the project. Never again.

Home depot cut the wood for the fridge surround all I had to do is give them the measurements.

Cut a pass through window to open it up a bit.

Still have to install the dishwasher between fridge and sink and paint the moulding. Took me about 3 months to get this far. AMA, I love this stuff.

Nice job breh. Did you have any previous experience putting up sheetrock/tiles/etc?

Airbnb them out is the plan.

You copping them cash or you getting a mortgage? Right now I have 2 properties (both with a mortgage) but I really don't want to get in anymore debt :mjcry:

Other than patch work here and there not really. It took me about three weeks of sanding but a professional would have knocked it out in a day. The back splash is that cheap ass vinyl you can cut with scissors. I didn't even feel like fooling with tile.

Had to find this thread again, been thinking about what's next for my crib.

Lawn situation is lost for the year, I can't maintain it regularly by myself. Will need to get professionals to reboot this shyt next year.

Wife wants to put solar panels on our roof but doesn't want to lease them. I haven't looked into it but she not thinking about sticker shock. Anyone buy solar panels for their house? Pics? How you like the switch to solar? What is it running you?

I don't have a nest but like any thermostat be careful. A wrong wire can blow the transformer in one of your units and lead to serious headaches. It's not impossible to do, just do your research if you haven't done it before, before pulling wires left and right.

You not having an electrician do it? Especially since it's tied to your HVAC system?

I have 1 free service call for my heating oil supplier where they will upgrade my thermostat. Will probably buy 2 Nest and have him do it instead of going w whatever unit he was going to put in

Cant comment on those but i do have an Ecobee3 which has great reviews, I love mine. It comes with one sensor (you can buy more) and place them in what ever you want, to better control the temperature in which ever room. Other thermostats can only go by the thermometer on the the device itself, which records the area it's installed.

It's touchscreen and you can program schedules and integrate it with a smart home, phone app, web app, etc.

Cant speak much about the Nest but it is supposed to learn your routine and auto adjusts accordingly, can also integrate with a smart home and has a app. I think what sets the Ecobee3 apart from the Nest (imo) are the sensors you can place anywhere.
