A Villa Straylight.
Reading an old Daredevil story (Fall From Grace) and it’s probably the most boring story I’ve ever read. How did this writer become employed? :dahell:

Artwork is like a lower version of early Liefeld. Even the feet are drawn shytty.
Rolodex Hiring. Cacs hire other cacs they know who may be trash. Chickchester was trash.

Agree with most of it, specially what worked. Apocalypse's retcon + character work, Synch, Storm, everything Ewing did, Hellions, Nightcrawler, Exodus, they all made this era memorable.

The biggest mistake was going from a Krakoan Age centered on Moira to something centered on Sinister. It would've been one thing if Sinister's involvement ended after Sins of Sinister (which was a pretty cool crossover with dope build up) but by that point they had no direction whatsoever so Gillen had carte blanche to double down on him and make everything revolve around him till the very end. And that was never going to be a satisfying ending.

Duggan was a huge, huge disappointment as well. The falloff of his work after his first year post Hickman was consistent. And after the last Hellfire Gala it was just plain bad.

Going from the promise of Moira as a character, her motivations and what the fukk would happen next -which was the big tease of HoX/PoX- to making her a boring cartoony villain was just horrible. Also hated how we went from Doug being a very interesting and compelling wildcard to completely forgotten. Those two plot threads were the ones that hurt the most when it comes to Hickman's main vision. The whole "mutants won in Moira's 10th life" was also such a dope twist that was botched horribly :francis:

I'd still give it a B- minus though. The Hickman years had a classic in HoX/PoX and then it was carried by the "promise of a plan that will unfold later", which made the misses not hurt as much. The Gillen/Duggan years had better runs and more interesting books for 2 years basically, but the build to the ending and the ending itself leaves a sour taste.
Hickman should have either saw it through by himself of never done it at all. He's like JMS the way he just drops things like old toys.

It's still take him going for it and starting the concept than us never getting Krakoa. Considering how forgettable the mutants were after the "Messiah" trilogy, just having HoX and PoX, plus the premise of Krakoa was something worth having, regardless of how it ended.

I guess. Krakoa as an idea and the nation was brilliant. I just wish he'd have been able to do what he needed to at the end.

Spider-Man Miles Morales concept art by Sara Pichelli. The pixilation says to me that these images are old, but I never knew these were floating around. My mans almost had the Killmonger.

Let's be honest. Despite the crash landing. This has been the most interesting the X books has been since the Messiah Trilogy.

They have been meandering from one mid/trash era ever since.

Maaan G.O.D.S. was such a missed opportunity. The characters, the overall feel and the setting were all dope, and I really liked all the issues as stand alone reads, but there was never any real narrative that made the story whole so it was just a collection of loosely related stories that lead to absolutely nowhere.

This could've been amazing with more focus and care but it will end up as a very forgettable endeavor by Hickman, specially after all the hype that Marvel try to push for it. No one is gonna give a damn about this "new pantheon" because there really isn't much of anything to take, as it basically ended before it could truly start :dead:

Great idea for a comic - a world where you get randomy disfigured/mutated if you sin/lie/cheat.

First issue was solid

So let me get this straight:

Batman creates a whole separate personality that's more ruthless just in case he gets mentally screwed

Said personality crates an Uber Batman robot to take Batman down just in case he goes rogue, without Batman knowing it

Uber Batman robot proceeds to team up with Amanda Waller and negate ALL the superhuman powers on earth

So I guess the only person left to stop them are the folks with no powers..... meaning Batman.

Failsafe is a really shytty arc. Jorge Jimenez's amazing art is being wasted on this story.

I think this was the last time i was actively reading x-books lol

Yet once HoX and PoX hit, I was back fully engaged. It felt special, like when Bendis first kicked off New Avengers 20 years ago… or when Hickman rebranded NA a decade later with the Illuminati odyssey.

You kinda know when you’re reading something that could define a generation and have movies and games based on it… that’s what Hickman’s HoX/Moira storyline felt like.

Absolute Power has a retarded storyline and I have no idea how and why Mark Waid is participating in this.

It was refreshing seeing T'Challa get a love interest that is an actual goddess and from his own mytho. Didn't expect that
