Yeah I get it completely. It’s like me not putting it together that he’s a pedophile until much later and being like “this man was on pajamas! He was a child favorite! And he’s a child toucher?!” The 80s :russ:
I was under the impression that Craven and them re-wrote his character before the actual release of NOES1 to specifically not be a p*do but rather just a killer? Though this is just what I had in my mind, could totally be wrong

Nope. He always had him as a pedo and a killer. Then during pre production, that news story about the kids being molested hit and he toned it down but it was always implied. It’s still there.

This is from wiki:

Wes Craven said his inspiration for the basis of Freddy Krueger's power stemmed from several stories in the Los Angeles Times about a series of mysterious deaths: All the victims had reported recurring nightmares and died in their sleep.[13]Additionally, Craven's original script characterized Freddy as a child molester, which Craven said was the "worst thing" he could think of. The decision was made to instead make him a child murderer in order to avoid being accused of exploiting the spate of highly publicized child molestation cases in California around the time A Nightmare on Elm Street went into production.[14]

Not gonna die on a hill over this but does this excerpt not confirm my point? Haha
As in, the intention of his character vs. what ended up being his actual conception

Nah cause you said he changed it before the movie. I said he changed it during production. Yes that’s a petty distinction lol but it’s still there. And Craven said those elements of the character are still there. Toned down? Yes but still there.

:why::scust:That's twisted.. all types of nope.
I can't watch this the same anymore. That's a moral boundary crosser for me - involving child abuse or molestation. Like there's elements of horror and "art imitating life" But I can't when it comes to involving children in that capacity.
