Species 1995
I watched Cat People and Lifeforce before specifically so I can watch this. I remember only trying to watch this as a kid for boobs. The movie actually takes itself pretty seriously. Probably too serious IDK. Forest Whitaker was really good in this movie either way. I just wasn't interested that much in the fish out of water plotline with Sid. I know that it's supposed to show how our society views women or beautiful woman in particular but
wasn't that interesting to me.
I do miss sexy woman killer horror movies. They don't really make them anymore. The practical effects are good.
The cast for this movie is stacked as hell. I mean look at the cast
Michelle Williams - even as a kid shes was good. Maybe why she was in the Venom movies.
Ben Kingsley - wasn't that good in this imo.
Forest Whitaker - is the movies mvp.
Michael Madsen
Alfred Molina - wasn't given much to do.
The movie gets called an Alien rip off. I guess after I thought about it a little bit, but the creature design reminded me of some H.R. Giger artwork I saw. Specifically the one that below. Not suprised that he actually worked on this movie aswell. I saw this blog before after reading that he did the work for Alien and some of the Cenobite designs from Hellraiser franchise may be inspired by his work
Alien Explorations
Species II 1998
This one isn't as good as the first, but it's more entertaining imo. The practical effects are even better. There's a lot more jokes. Even the cgi is kinda good. You do get to see more of the Alien forms. At the end, the movie kinda goes Hentai.
Mykelti Williamson's(Bubba, Forrest Gump) character had me dying. There's no way this dude would be sent to outer space by NASA. Halfway through the movie I was calling him Astro Unc. I am very glad he's there because Michael Madsen is much less interested this time around.
Should I continue the Species Franchise? There's 2 more of these...
