I agree with you from the Salem's Lot thread that this is towards younger audiences. They got the guy that wrote IT and that was a huge hit for Gen Z. Like everyone else I wish the movie had more time to breath.

I don't think its bad because I've been watching some truly bad films like The Front Room, Evil Toons, and Nothing But Trouble(actually don't really hate this:pachaha: its Texas Chainsaw Massacre for kids).

I also watched Stay Tuned with John Ritter which I enjoyed, but I think its dated with all the references so its hard to recommend for people that never watched TV on a fatback.

I'll read you're review for this after I watch it. I didn't realize this was the Anne Hathaway movie by the name. I heard about this on a horror doc or YouTube video and completely forgot about it.

I did watch VHS Beyond, and I had a lot of fun with it. The 2nd and last segments stood out to me. I'm interested in reading more opinions soon.
Nothing But Trouble the Dan Akroyd movie? When I was younger, I used to LOVE that movie. The big baby twins were hilarious to kid me.

Stay Tuned is another classic. I thought it was supposed to get a remake, but either that fell through or I fell for a fake report. It seems PERFECT to remake as a series on one of these streaming networks. They could literally use the network's other properties and set pieces for the family to get trapped in.

I'm about to start VHS now. I just heard a glowing review for a new thriller called Strange Darling, so that's also getting a quick watch from me.

Yea thats the movie. I only remembered this movie because I googled Demi Moore movies. The baby twins and the Digital Underground scene(my dad was a fan of them) are the only things I remembered.

I also looked up Margaret Qualley and I didn't know she was Andie MacDowell's daughter. At the same time I used to always watch Ground Hog Day, and Multiplicity(which is another movie I forgot about). Last time I watched Ground Hog Day as an adult on Netflix I was like this is depressing:pachaha:

I don't think I ever saw this as a kid but yea it was fun. I agree it should be updated. I saw that there was a remake in the works but it looks like production stopped.

Yea I heard the same thing. Willa Fitzgerald was good in House of Usher and I think Kyle Gallner is an underrated actor.

4. Be My Cat: A Film for Anne (Tubi)

Personally, I am not a fan of found footage: at all, but thats neither here nor there.
Its just a .....me thing
if I ever change my username - it would probably be anti-found footage :russ:
but it was on the list and i watched , a team player to the end

the film itself was okay, they could have trimmed about 10-15 minutes off of it.
the slow descent of the main character is well plotted - he starts out "weird" and just gets crazier and more violent as the movie goes on.
the violence was raw and made it feel real, which is great and added to the dread of the actresses once that nikka flipped on them.
more blood would have helped

But its found footage.. :hubie:

something similar to the plot actually happened

its literally a street level Euro slasher film thats just happens to be found footage
Its unapologetically Romanian
the setting being in a different culture and country also helped a lot for me.

:mjlol: I mean my friend and I rented Havoc from Blockbuster so I see where he's comming from:manny: I was like I didn't know Princess Diaries was like that:ohhh:

I'm glad the movie wasn't overly brutal to the actresses(sexually or violently). Maybe it's the custom over there, but those women complied too easily. Flori had a fantastic scream. I liked that it delt with the dangers of fandom like Misery.

The main character multiple times had me like:why::francis::russ::snoop:

NGL if i saw this at a younger age it'd be quoting him like Borat. The disgusting scenes for me was everytime the camera showed the inside of his mouth:scust:

I wonder if Anne Hathaway has seen this movie. If she hasn't, I'd pay to watch her reaction to the movie.

Am I tipping or is this vhs boring

I liked the 3rd and last segments.

The first is like the first stage in a horror FPS. I can understand why people wouldn't like it.

The second has the least story and it's hard to see the action.

I liked the setup and payoff of Live and Let Die.

The fourth is a spin on Human Centipede/Tusk. Not really my favorite horror sub genre but it's ok.

The last has a good concept and pay off imo. I liked the actresses who I was surprised does everything but act.

I didn't like the wrap around and thought the payoff missed the mark.

My weekend watches are VHS: Beyond and in my *choose your own* slot, Haunt. I realize Haunt is a fairly basic plot and movie, but I love the execution, and it's a Halloween-themed premise. I watched it in October every year. But anyway, some thoughts:

VHS: Beyond
Six bloodcurdling tapes unleash horror in a sci-fi inspired hellscape, pushing the boundaries of fear and suspense.

I think VHS is cemented as the best anthology horror series of all time at this point. Beyond is another quality installment, with the best wrap-around of the series, and I also think its stories have the most consistent quality. Stowaway was the only story that didn't fully grab me, and I think that's only because it was such a stark tone shift from the other, campier stories.

In the October format, I keep these short and sweet. But I'd like to talk about all the shorts, though I'm contemplating marathoning the whole series soon. So, maybe I'll hold off and type thoughts on everything down the line. For now, Beyond is really good, with my favorite plot being Live and Let Dive, and Stork adds to the series' kickass action-horror shorts...they've really built a nice collection for that genre.

Haunt (2019)
On Halloween, a group of friends encounter an "extreme" haunted house that promises to feed on their darkest fears. The night turns deadly as they come to the horrifying realization that some nightmares are real.

Simple premise, some college kids stumble across a Haunt and get in too deep before realizing the actors aren't acting. I love how the scares are primed here. The characters travel through most of the haunt, but have to backtrack after they realize they're in danger. That gives you a familiarity that really helps the tension.

I doubt it will blow anyone away. But it's a fun horror movie that's perfect for October marathons.
