Brehs! Poohniverse.... :dead:
Really:russ:

This would be an awesome idea if Blood and Honey weren't one of the worst horror movies of the last few years. It was soooo bad.

An estranged journalist starts a podcast on unexplained phenomenon and gets more than she bargained for....

This movie only has one main actress, the lead from Evil Dead Rise, the roadie slut aunt if you remember. Luckily she's attractive. It's just her podcasting with found footage thrown in. Luckily again, she's rich or at least her parent are so you see a lot of shots of her as she goes about her unemployed day in her rich ass house. I love first world porn. Wasn't in love with the found footage stuff but they don't overuse it, 9/10.

Is it a date movie, lead actress is about a 7, so yo date shouldn't be mad, especially once the twist happens

A disadvantaged millennial checks onto a facility to take part in a sleep study......blah blah blah more than she bargained for.

Well, you've found it, ya first coherent blood and gore fest of the year. Still Filled with the over acting psychosis paranoia to pad out the run time. The ending is insane but I've been giving filmmakers a pass recently for giving ppl what they want, 9/10.

Is it a date movie, these kids pretty haggard to start the movie off and they don't get no better, I don't see a problem.

With both these movies there is more I want to talk about but I can't without ppl seeing the movies so hurry up.

Even though they're completely different movies, Double-Blind captured certain elements that made me a fan of the Cube movies. It's got a group of strangers cracking for understandable reasons while they're stuck in a life-or-death situation. It's even got the performances that are a little over the top, but somehow work with the rest of the production.

They came up with a really creative way to gives us interesting "kills," especially when the conceit is as simple as "don't fall asleep." I was worried it'd run out of steam, but they managed to keep the situations dynamic right up to the end.

But just like Cube, it's a bit budget horror and a bit hammy. It's almost camp, but I appreciated so much of what they were going for.

It's 7-7.5 range for me, which puts it at the top of my 2024 horror list so far.

Two contenders hit theatrical release this Friday...Immaculate which has a cool story behind how it got made. And Late Night with the Devil is finally coming out, but release seems limited because I don't see it playing at any of my local theaters :mjcry:

Doing a Monolith/Double Blind Double feature. I'd giving Monolith a 9/10, even though that not my favorite genre. I'll let you know about Double Blind.

you been on point with your suggestions every time… I’ve enjoyed each suggestion.. Think you rate a little high but regardless, good watches no matter what. Much appreciated.

I found a decent Taiwanese horror film, especially if you like Curse films. 2020's The Bridge Curse:
University students, planning a bravery initiation test for their fellow classmates, choose a campus bridge rumored to be haunted by a vengeful female ghost.

Yall know I love a good curse movie and this one's got the usual goods. There's a vengeful ghost, a mysterious curse that needs to be investigated, and a history to unearth. The execution plays with timelines. We see a Found Footage style opening, then a news reporter tells us about the end results of the footage. As she investigates what happened, we flashback to see the students from the footage and what really went down.

I like the approach, especially because they leave some obvious sketchy details that add to the puzzle. But oddly enough, this kinda felt like a slasher movie to me. We watch the characters get picked off one by one, with a bit of "who, what, and why?" baked in. The kills range from well-crafted to silly, and the end game goes a little overboard on CGI. But all in all, it's a good time for a horror that's less than an hour and a half long.

I give it a 6.5/7 outta 10. There's a sequel that just dropped, which is why I found this one. I'll give that a watch too. Both films are on Netflix, and worth watching for anyone who likes supernatural horror, particularly curse films, and doesn't mind subtitles.
