I found a decent Taiwanese horror film, especially if you like Curse films. 2020's The Bridge Curse:
University students, planning a bravery initiation test for their fellow classmates, choose a campus bridge rumored to be haunted by a vengeful female ghost.
Yall know I love a good curse movie and this one's got the usual goods. There's a vengeful ghost, a mysterious curse that needs to be investigated, and a history to unearth. The execution plays with timelines. We see a Found Footage style opening, then a news reporter tells us about the end results of the footage. As she investigates what happened, we flashback to see the students from the footage and what really went down.
I like the approach, especially because they leave some obvious sketchy details that add to the puzzle. But oddly enough, this kinda felt like a slasher movie to me. We watch the characters get picked off one by one, with a bit of "who, what, and why?" baked in. The kills range from well-crafted to silly, and the end game goes a little overboard on CGI. But all in all, it's a good time for a horror that's less than an hour and a half long.
I give it a 6.5/7 outta 10. There's a sequel that just dropped, which is why I found this one. I'll give that a watch too. Both films are on Netflix, and worth watching for anyone who likes supernatural horror, particularly curse films, and doesn't mind subtitles.
