Has anyone watched Stopmotion? Kinda interested in it but :patrice: I think I'm going to need to see a recommendation first.

Fallen (1998)

I watched this yesterday for the first time and mostly enjoyed it. I don't know how I haven't heard of it before. The movie had an All Star cast with Denzel, James Gandolfini, John Goodman, Donald Sutherland, Embeth Davidtz, and Casey Jones from TMNT.

Two things I didn't like was the constant POV shot with the green tint. That shyt got annoying. Also what was up with Denzel's brother:dahell: He acted slow the whole movie and have a beard with no mustache like he was Amish. I was like how this dude got a kid:mjlol:

I can tell Denzel and John Goodman got along in their scenes. Also makes their scenes together in Flight make more sense, they may be actual friends or just enjoy working with each other.

At least I know now where this gif comes from lol.

I'm biased toward skepticism because of how much he botched Texas Chainsaw Massacre. But I like the news that they've aimed to at least capture the aesthetics of the OG ones. Fede brought back members of the team from Aliens for effects and puppeteering. This trailer definitely looks more fast-paced, Aliens style, but it sounds like the characters will be regular joes like the original.

I hope it ends up being good! That scene with all the crawlers chasing people down the hallway is my favorite clip from the trailer.

This looks like someone wanted to make a Jason movie and couldn't get the rights, though I say that as a compliment. The scene where you can just make out the blade in the distance and hear him swinging it in the dark...that's a REALLY great shot. It's always a good sign when the cinematography is popping even through clips from the trailer. Even that one quote about animals feels promising.

I'm about to jump around horror twitter to see if people have seen/commented on it. That trailer got me...I'm in!

I don’t fault Fede with TCM (2022) as much as I do the main director and screenwriter. He did have his hand in the project as a producer, but a story credit isn’t making me question his overall abilities. No telling how much of what contribution he had on that front, but everything I’ve read about the project makes me feel like dude was less involved on the script than Peele was when co-writing Candyman (2021). When Fede is actually in the chair, he’s shown me he can deliver with Evil Dead and Don’t Breathe.

I was very much disappointed in TCM. Hollywood loves to flash these promising directors’ names across projects as if that’s their movie and I got baited…hard. So now, unless the word of mouth is hittin’, I’m hesitant of any other project that tries the same method. Blumhouse loves to do this with James Wan-produced stuff. Peele too, along with any other horror director who struck it big with mainstream audiences. From a marketing angle, I understand it, but I still hate how deceiving it can be. Some of those flicks are genuine sleepers and others belong straight in the :trash: with TCM.
