I watched The Samejima Incident. Its semi-found footage/zoom movie. It's pretty good on the found footage scales. I give it about an 7/10.

I'm angry with this trash ass movie.

For horror, we're allowed to have the suspense of disbelief but man this film's premise is so fukking insulting. You mean to tell me that not only did the dad in this film fall for a chick who survived a cult suicide pack, but he thought it would be perfectly fine for this medicated looney to be alone and stranded in the middle of a blizzard with his kids? The same kids whose mom just committed suicide over their dad moving on? :dahell:

I couldn't wrap my head around the story behind this movie. It kept pissing me off I wanted to kill the dad myself :what::gucci:

That nikka really said, "I'll be back in two days" but didn't come back until 4 or 5 days later. :why:

Never occurred to him that after the second day of not being able to have any contact with his fiance that it's best to go back to check-in? :martin:

And those dumb ass kids saw the video of those deaths from the cult, knowing she was medicated, and still did all that to fukk with her mentally, like actually taking away her meds? :childplease::pacspit:

And why did that goofy ass bytch of a mom kill herself over a dummy, leaving her kids with them :unimpressed:

And I see dumb fukks on Reddit trying to formulate some reasonable answer to why they thought the movie was good.

The possibility of a Thing sequel with prioritized practical effects and Carpenter directing again in full glory excites me, but sadly I think both of those aspects would be a hard ask today. The 2000s have not treated him nor Argento well.

Feel like the closest thing to a spiritual sequel would be a Dead Space adaptation, and even then I still have a hard time trusting the studios not to interfere with it. I don’t even know how to feel about Wan directing it (if that rumor is true).

Fam, I remember being SO frustrated with that damned movie. It was overhyped and I'm pretty sure the majority of this thread's posters at the time hated it too. I found a few of my old posts trashing it,

I've said it before on the Lodge, but I hated everyone in it and every choice they made which left me with zero sympathy or investment. It's also one where I kinda figured where it was gonna go but just not the explanation for how it was gonna get there.
Hang on fam...Just for a second can we talk about the whole doll house motif from The Lodge and how absolutely on the nose it was for Herediatry's miniatures? :mjlol:

I co-sign all of the hate posts about this one. Remember how Saw and Hostel started a bit of a torture porn craze where most of the directors completely missed what made those first couple of films so effective? That's what the Lodge made me think of. Like missing the mark everywhere it matters but still feeling completely contrived. If you want to scratch the Hereditary itch, I'd suggest the Killing of a Sacred Deer fam.

I definitely had a MJ "fukk them kids" meme for that movie :mjlol:

I really enjoyed it! I'm a Found Footage fan and I've also been on a Curse Horror kick, so this hit two of my horror favorites in one shot. It felt sorta like Unfriended crossed with Pontypool in a Japanese Horror setting. But where most of the Zoom horror movies kinda bored me with how confined they were; this joint had the wherewithal to take us off the computer screen for some third-person view horror. Good jump scares, smart premise, and they didn't tip-toe around the allegories. I'll definitely be suggesting it to others!

It makes a nice addition with the Cursed Village trilogy I ran through over the course of this year (Howling Village >> Suicide Forest Village >> Samejima Incident >> Ox-head Village).

yesterday i watched "Godforsaken". It's a found footage movie. A guy goes back to his hometown for a funeral...and i'm stopping right there not to spoil shyt. And fukkery starts early in this, like less that 3 minutes into the movie. It's a fun little movie if you're bored and its free on youtube.

I completely ignored the doll house part. I was so damn angry :what: I didn't even connect the Hereditary rip-off (I watched Hereditary again over the weekend and will post my thoughts about it soon).

This film insults horror movie fans so much. Horror has a shyt ton of shytty movies, we know that and accept it as they are, while still enjoying the films for entertainment purposes.

But The Lodge is supposed to be taken seriously, and I'm like :dahell: this shyt does not represent us.

The only example I can think of is how I'll gladly watch most of Halloween's shytty ass movies and still enjoy them. But when I think of Halloween Ends I get so pissed.

I saw The Boogeyman this morning. i'll give it about a 6/10.
The acting was pretty decent. I actually cared about the main characters because they went through a collective tragedy and they had a tough time dealing with that.
The monster was aight, but seemed like a mashup of common fear-monsters and lights-out monsters.

edit: I was surprised how many people was in the theater, but i guess Stephen King got it like that. :ehh:

Threw on Be My Cat while I did some afternoon chores. Tubi suggestion. Idk wtf I'm watching. Kinda reminds me of Creep with Mark Duplass, but way more twisted.

Edit: Oh this is definitely the most messed up movie I've seen in a while. This dude is foul!
