The Weird Side
I really do think the only way to make them work is to take them back to their core from when they first appeared and ignore any inclinations to look at the characters as the pop culture icons they eventually became.

Michael Myers is just a regular human lunatic who escaped from a mental institution and terrorized a middle class suburb for a night. Not a 7' hulking monster with mystical ties to ancient orders of druids.

Jason Voorhees is just a violent deformed psychopath with a vendetta against anyone who comes within range of his neck of the woods. Not an unstoppable murder zombie.

Freddy Krueger is a sadistic child murderer who uses his newfound supernatural abilities to get revenge on the parents who killed him in a pique of vigilante justice by offing their children. Not a wisecracking serial killing Bugs Bunny.
Unfortunately there is a new halloween coming out, taking place in the same universe as the old ones, not zombie ones. Looks like more Kevin Williamson inspired horror stuff.

Southbound :obama:

I was surprised by this movie brehs.

Not insanely scary but a very well put together product with a narrative that acts as a self contained endless loop of events. One of the best horror anthologies I've ever seen :ld:

10x better than any VHS flick which I enjoyed bits and pieces of.

About to dive into 31 now :snoop:. Whiskey and loud on deck :smugdraper:

Behind You
Actor James Franco shared with IndieWire his favorite horror movies to watch on Halloween:

1. Texas Chainsaw Massacre
2. The Shining
3. The Conjuring 2
4. Friday the 13th
5. The Greasy Strangler

For those wondering what the hell The Greasy Strangler is...it is one of the most bizarre fukking movies I have ever watched and just the type of movie I would assume James Franco would be a fan of.

Ronnie (Michael St. Michaels) runs a disco walking tour along with his browbeaten son, Brayden (Sky Elobar). When a sexy, alluring woman named Janet (Elizabeth De Razzo) comes to take the tour, it begins a competition between father and son for her attentions. It also brings about the appearance of an oily, slimy, inhuman maniac who stalks the streets at night and strangles the innocent-soon dubbed the Greasy Strangler.

Dapped for your Witch and Cabin Fever ratings. You see the first Sinister? What's the rating compared to those?

I saw intruders the other day. Thought the idea was good but the execution was ehhh.

Gotta check final girls. Been kinda putting it off. Don't Breathe just came to the cheap theater by me so I gotta check that too.

Yeah, I watch a lot of horror films so I judge them harshly compared to others. I have to revisit the 1st Sinister but i remember seeing it
