I didn't realize Paranormal Activity was on Prime...the new one...I'll give it a look soon since I like the series, though I've heard it's waaaay different.

I've still got Antlers and Last Night in Soho to check out on the theater tip.

Alright that new Paranormal Activity on Prime was pretty dope. I loved it, much different than the others.

anyone seen it???

edit: everyone hates everything it seems, yall wanted the same old camera set up in house formula? :mjlol::mjlol:
I thought it was terrible and that seems to be the general consensus with most of the people who watched it:

38% Audience Score on Rotten Tomatoes
5.7 Audience score on Metacritic
2.4 on Letterboxd

But I'm happy for you that you enjoyed it. I have a bunch of movies that I like that the world at large thinks is garbage.:yeshrug:

Does anyone watch this series on Netflix, besides me? "Wentworth"...
WWPRISON5.jpg

This new season 8 - they turned into a horror series. Each episode someone is murdered brutally. they have Ferguson as the female Michael Myers - reminds me of the scene when Mike is locked up in the hospital from Halloween 2007. serial killer vibes
:deadrose::deadrose:

Ferguson is the warden of the (correction - WAS) until she became a prisoner at the own institution where she was a warden for murdering one of the inmates and attempted murder of her former Correctional Officer coworkers and kidnapping. they decide to bury her alive for all of this havoc and like Michael - she manages to escape or come back from the dead many times
:mjlol::francis:

anyway- they have this crazy lady coming out the freezer like the girl from "The Ring" (1:40)

:deadrose:
and this backdrop

Pam Grier Joins Cast of 'Pet Sematary' Prequel - Variety

The prequel to Paramount’s 2019 horror film “Pet Sematary” has added “Jackie Brown” star Pam Grier to its call sheet.

Grier joins a cast that includes Jackson White (“Mrs. Fletcher”), Forrest Goodluck (” The Revenant”), Jack Mulhern (“Mare of Easttown”), Natalie Alyn Lind (” The Goldbergs”) and Isabella Star LeBlanc. The upcoming “Pet Sematary” will serve as an origin story to the Stephen King novel about a family that discovers a rather disturbing graveyard in the woods behind their home.

The movie, which still doesn’t have a title, begins shooting in August and will debut exclusively on Paramount Plus, the recently rebranded streaming service from ViacomCBS, on an undetermined date. It is set up at Paramount Players, a division of Paramount that specializes in genre fare.

Next week, the shark attack movie Great White comes to the platform on Nov. 11. Nicolas Cage’s Prisoners of the Ghostland debuts exclusively on Shudder starting Nov. 19.

Finally, on Nov. 23, The Strings premieres. The Strings is about a talented musician who travels to a remote cottage and soon experiences dangerous supernatural occurrences manifesting there.

Horror on TV
The long-awaited Dexter revival finally releases this weekend, Sunday, Nov. 7, exclusively on Showtime. Dexter: New Blood sees our favorite serial killer ten years after the original show ended, now set up in a small fictional town in New York.

Then on Nov. 14, you might want to check out Showtime’s new coming-of-age drama/psychological horror show Yellowjackets, which revolves around a group of young girls who find themselves stranded deep in the remote wilderness.

Streaming
Netflix has two true crime projects coming out early in November, including the thrilling docuseries Catching Killers out on Thursday, Nov. 4, followed by Yara on Friday, Nov. 5. Yara is based on a true story and follows a determined prosecutor intent on finding out what happened to a missing 13-year-old girl.

Next week on Nov. 11, the serial killer thriller starring Lucy Hale, Ragdoll, premieres on AMC+. Based on the book of the same name by Daniel Cole, Ragdoll centers on an investigation into a particularly sinister case after investigators find a “ragdoll” comprised of body parts sewn together from six different victims.

Also coming soon to AMC+ is the Italian dystopian drama Anna, which is set in a post-apocalyptic world where a virus kills adults but spares children. The series premieres on Nov. 18.

(AMC+ is lowkey lit with their originals, I've seen a few)

Screen Media, a Chicken Soup for the Soul Entertainment company, announced today that it was dipping its toe into the pool of found footage horror with the acquisition of Stoker Hills.

The film’s name doubles as the town’s name at the center of this found footage horror story. Three college students from this secluded small town face their worst nightmare when they get lost in the woods while filming a horror movie. The only hope they have of getting out alive is by leaving behind a camera containing footage of their horrific journey and hoping the detectives assigned to their case can use it to find them before it’s too late.

Screen Media is no stranger to horror titles. They previously distributed the Nicolas Cage film Willy’s Wonderland and are also behind the upcoming release of Black Friday, starring Bruce Campbell and Devon Sawa, which the company purchased after it debuted at Fantastic Fest.

Who stars in the found footage horror Stoker Hills?
Hailing from filmmaker Benjamin Louis and writer Jonah Kuehner, Stoker Hills stars William Lee Scott (Butterfly Effect), Danny Nucci (Titanic), Steffani Brass (Six Feet Under), and Tony Todd (Candyman). Rab Butler, Timothy Christian, Jonah Kuehner, and Benjamin Louis produced through Streetwalkers Productions.

Todd is considered a horror icon with many horror films on his resume that are currently available to stream. It’ll be an exciting change of pace for Kuehner, who predominantly wrote for Disney shows like Good Luck Charlie before this.

Of the Screen Media acquisition, Louis said, “After several years of hard work and dedication, our team is thrilled to partner with Screen Media for our domestic release. We are excited to share the film with the US audience.”

Screen Media issued a statement echoing the filmmaker’s sentiments, adding, “We’re always on the hunt for new, innovative genre voices, and we found just that with director Benjamin Louis. His fresh take on the found footage subgenre surprises at every turn.”

When does Stoker Hills come out?
We don’t have an exact release date for the movie yet, but 1428 Elm has learned that Screen Media is planning a day-and-date release sometime in January 2022.

The Advent Calendar
Release date: December, 2021 (Shudder)

Ex-dancer Eva who is in a wheelchair after a car accident is given an old wooden advent calendar by a friend who should probably have just opted for the safer wine and chocolates option. Yes, there’s a delicious treat behind each locked door, but there’s also a set of rules that she must apparently follow while she owns the calendar. Breaking any one of these will have deadly consequences. After watching at London’s FrightFest, we can’t wait to see this on horror streaming service Shudder this holiday season. It’s quite the festive treat. But only if you follow the rules…

Dashcam

After watching Zoom-based horror-fest Host on Shudder you’ll know to be very, very afraid of what the team has cooked up next for Blumhouse. If Host made you not want to open your laptop ever again, imagine what Dashcam will do for cars. Host director Rob Savage is back at the helm and Jed Shepherd and Gemma Hurley once again joined him on writing duties for another Covid set horror. This time we’re on the road with a woman as she gives a lift to someone who may not be what she seems…

“If Host is a very quiet, ‘I’m alone in the house by myself’ kind of movie, this is everyone yelling, nothing getting heard — the angry discourse movie that just adds to the cacophony,” Savage told The Hollywood Reporter. “In the same way that Host is really about planting a flag and saying, ‘This is what it’s like being in lockdown during 2020,’ Dashcam is doing the same but in a different way. It’s trying to be like, ‘This is how people were feeling and interacting with each other at this time.'” The film screened to great critical fanfare earlier in 2021 so 2022 is looking likely for a general release. Apparently it's one to see with a crowd..
