October 9th: VHS 94

Holy Hell: mildly interesting but I usually don't come to these types of films expecting the wraparound segment to blow me out of the water.

Storm Drain: I loved the ridiculous nonsensical aspect of this one. HAIL RAATMA!!

The Empty Wake: This one was really fun with an awesome zombie make-up/effect.

The Subject: Just high octane bloody violent batshyt insanity from start to finish and I loved every second of it.

Terror: A cool premise but it felt a bit undercooked.

Overall V/H/S/94 was a really enjoyable film that took a step forward for the franchise after what I felt was a bit of a stumble with the previous installment.

I give 'VHS 94' 3 out 4 Gun Totin' Dr. Loomis'
No funny ish- but we need an origin story movie on gun totin’ Dr. Loomis. There’s never been
A movie on that right? - how did Loomis and Michael Myers meet? What’s the story behind Dr. Loomis in his obsession of treating insane mental patients and serial killers. Like a college kid Dr. Loomis stuffing for is psychology degree and the progression of his profession until the MM timeline. I might get in my Ms. Hollyhood bag and start penning my pitches in articles, help to get out of this slump that I’ve been in lately.

Netflix. “The Bar” - premise group of people trapped in a bar and any one of them that try to leave or escape, gets a headshot. Literally shot in the head. From an unknown source - not sure if it’s paranormal or an actual shooter. Like a doomsday expirement (subtitled)
The_Bar_%28film%29.jpg

-continued- This movie ^^^is an unexpected gem - luv this ish.The cast of characters + the randomness of the lines = the right mix of comedy/thriller/horror
:laff::mjlol:
the old lady saying “I don’t want any chips, I don’t want any olives, I don’t want any coca-collllaaa - I just want to get outta here :sadcam:
:deadrose:
they put olive oil on dude to try to fit him through the sewer hatch to help them escape and he still got stuck - wth ??

HBO Max got all the 80s/90s/00s joints on there :whew:

Didn't even know there was a Poltergeist 2 and 3 :skip:
That movie is cursed.

HBO Max has the Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street 2000s remakes. Unpopular opinion but I enjoyed those remakes despite the negative critic and fan feedbacks. HBO max upped their stake in the game for Halloween. Especially with the Malignant drop.

Domestic horror streams:
Shudder>>HBO Max >> Peacock TV>>>TUBI >>Netflix>>> Hulu >>>

Apple TV

Foreign Horror/Thriller streaming:
Netflix >>>>> Hulu>>> everything else

It's official, I'ma need a real live snuff film or some shyt to get my fix. I can't find shyt that does it for me. A24 been dry for a minute. I need a good, tense, anxiety inducing psychological thriller/horror with lots of mind fukkery and heavy on da creepiness.
:mjtf::patrice:
Dude is trying to end up on a FED watchlist trying to satisfy his horror fix. That’s too much. Bout to get a knock on his door from the Deep Dark Web division IP tracker unit looking for content. Log off for the rest of the year b and watch a few sitcoms/cartoons or something. This is like the 4th time I’ve seen you say that. Scary. Sounds like you’re one streaming app away from being a real actor in your Poughkeepsie Tapes/Cannibal Lecture/Jigsaw collection for personal amusement collection. Chillllll. Don’t get flagged- this thread may not be for you but some of us are here for the vibes only. Both concerned and disturbed at your posts, tread carefully.

That would be a cool spin-off.
Have young idealistic Dr. Loomis work his first case and it turns out the person he's treating is a serial killer who dupes Loomis into helping him/her avoid jail but then goes on a killing spree so Loomis goes all vigilante for the first time to catch him/her.

That would explain why he seemed so burnt out and ready to pop a cap in Michael's ass by the time we meet him in the first Halloween.

West where the Sunsets
Watched it myself for the first time earlier this year. It was really good- I like the dark gothic horror period pieces. This movie was very well done.

another one that I’ve been meaning to see with those elements is The Raven. Started watching it years ago, never got back for whatever reason.

and I rated this highly on my watchlist along the gothic inspired pieces - I watch this every Halloween

I enjoyed both movies you listed. Untold is highly underrated.

Raven is more of a “who done it?” Thriller. I don’t know if I’ll label it a horror, but the tone is dark.

I thought your username is based off The Collector?

Na, Never seen the movie. The u/n is based off the comic book character.

October 8th: Oculus
GhGLRbX.jpg

Early Mike Flanagan flick that doesn't reinvent the wheel but does provide a very entertaining 90 minutes of horror.
Great performances from all three principal actors (Karen Gillan, Katee Sackhoff and Brenton Thwaites). I also was impressed by the visual tricks Flanagan used to create the mindbending turns with the evil mirror that helped to make the audience feel the sense of confusion the characters were going through.
Going back a re-watching this movie really does show that Flanagan has a knack for integrating themes of mental illness, grief and family dysfunction into the horror genre.

I give Oculus 3 out 4 Gun Totin' Dr. Loomis'

I forgot- what Was the final take on this as far as closure or did this have one of those open ended conclusions where the audience has to make their own decision as to whether it was actually 1) the antique mirror that possessed the family and drove them into insanity, 2) the house was cursed or 3) were they legitimately clinically insane with mental problems? Did the kids inherit the behavioral pattern from the parents. I might need to rewatch this myself.

Watching the OG Last House on the Left. The music is kinda inappropriate for certain scenes. These dudes are putting a passed out, raped girl’s body in car trunk to the sounds of something outta Monty Python. :dahell:
:mjlol:
That’s 70s movies for you. The decade of Inappropriately placed or timed soundtracks.
:deadmanny:
Reminds me of these

They do that music a lot on YouTube with clips. The content upload will have a 2 mins actual footage of a plane crash with stock music of uplifting concert orchestra playing in the background. (They do that to avoid a copyright strike but still)
happy music playing during a tragedy. This is another one

Switch to NEON, A24 are trying to become more "mainstream". They recently dropped a movie revolving around the porn industry because it was "too graphic". NEON ended up picking it up tho

Speaking of NEON, Titane is on my list
