I got my eyes on a Kimber 1911...just trying to decide on 9mm or 45acpWhat do you guys think of 1911s? They are more expensive but the look got me tbh.Especially stainless

Anyone have toughts on 1911 double stack mags? Capacity is like the main draw back for me.
A 1911 in anything other than .45ACP aint a 1911. That's like driving a V6 Mustang

when double stacked they are often known as “2011s” and they are straight bussin... be prepared to get raped for over $1200 for a quality 2011 like staccato, bul armory or Wilson combat. I hear the accuracy is amazing tho.... personally I’d cop a long slide Hk and just save some moneyAnyone have toughts on 1911 double stack mags? Capacity is like the main draw back for me.

And also just wanted to add that while 1911s are known as relics or “fudd guns” I think for serious collectors a 1911 is a must
they look nice, but i like the simplicity of glocks better. plus the capacityMy 3 nicest guns are all 1911s....
And without seeing your guns, I'm sure they are nicer than anything you guys have. Just sayin...
Yeah capacity is a no go....I only have single stack 1911s. And cleaning a 1911 is a goddamn chore. But for target shooting, my Kimber is the best gun I've ever shot. Its night and day going from that to my glock 17 or springfield xd9. Now those are 9mm so the caliber is diff, but even when I shoot my friends glock 21 its no comparison.
I'd never carry a 1911 though, its not practical at all. But in a home defense situation, if I cant get to my rifle I trust a 1911 more than any other gun because I feel like its almost hard to miss with it.

i rented an atlas athena w/ rmr recently and it was really smooth. if you get the mags that don't lock back you get 24 rounds capacity flush too. but like @bigillwill06 said you can get 98% of the experience for a third of the ticket so i think overall a 2011's sumn i'd rather rent or borrow from a rich friend than own lol.
