A 51-year-old man whose family said he'd been missing for days was found dead inside his Far South Side home, the apparent victim of a brutal stabbing, authorities said.

The man was identified by family members and the Cook County medical examiner's office as Henry Howard.

William Balfour, accused of killing Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson's mother, brother and 7-year-old nephew, did not take the stand as his lawyers put on just two quick witnesses.

Closing arguments are scheduled for Wednesday in Balfour's trial for the 2008 murders. The jury is likely to begin deliberations later in the day.

In the final testimony by a prosecution witness, a Chicago police detective testified today that a key found in Balfour's pocket after his arrest matched the stolen white SUV where the singer’s nephew was found shot to death.
