I'm not a north sider. I'm a west sider. But North side is still a lot more safer than the South side. I got robbed twice out south. My grandmother stay out south in the hood. (stubborn old lady) Lets just say if I can't get a ride out south I'm not going.

I was just Downtown Chicago not to long ago. I love Chicago,but i'm not going on the southside anymore. i'm not getting killed for nothing. Them young dudes are reckless.My younger brother 25 thinking about moving there. I told him he betta chill out for he end up dead.

It's give and take really. Like beanie said you can move here, pick a nice area, mind your business and be very lucky and never experience any violence. OR, you could have the wrong day, area, and ignant clown and not make it home. You can also do that in any big city, also...

Actually the west side look a whole lot better than most parts out south. 5 years ago you probably would have been correct but now? Not so much. Plenty of new townhouses, condos, etc being built out here. Remember Rockwell projects? No more. Nothing but townhomes and condos in that entire area. White people along with other races are moving back out west. We just moved into a condo around jackson and western. Really decent area.

Chicago in general has its bad parts if you live in the city. No ways around it. My bias is only because most of my friends are from the South Suburbs (Orland, Matteson,C.Heights) and they once lived in the city. They told me never to go on the Westside and when I took a wrong turn by UIC they made me a believer.
