Dan Rafael chat wrap 12/22:

- Hearing both sides in GGG and Canelo say signing the rematch is close. Should be finalized in the next couple of weeks.
- If Horn can make more money vs. Mundine than Crawford then that fight makes a lot of sense, because he has no chance vs. Crawford.
- Skeptical Garcia and Linares fight in 2018, but both say they want to make it happen.
- Doesn't believe the WW are putting together lopsided fights. Spence-Peterson and Thurman-Garcia are good fights. Been a while since Garcia has challenged himself.
- BJS didn't show that Lemieux was one dimensional, because everyone knew he already was one dimensional.
- Rios vs. Garcia is perversely fun. Donaire vs. Frampton is a very good fight on paper.
- Verdejo is expected to be back March 17 with Ramirez-Imam at MSG on ESPN.
- Nobody seems to know where Kirkland is. He was offered a prime spot on ESPN and never returned calls.
- Has not heard anything in a long time about a Victor Ortiz fight.
- GB says Jo Jo Diaz vs. GRJ is ready to go, but he will believe it when he sees it.
- How high in weight can Loma go? Probably 140. 147 would be really stretching it and probably only vs. a perfect opponent.
- Loma vs. Garcia prediction? That it won't happen.
- Wilder vs. Ortiz? Favors Wilder.
- Hamed changed boxing fans interest in the lighter weights. He would sell out arenas in the UK before his opponents would be announced.
- Gervonta Davis' tweets? Classless. Grew up a street kid. Can take the kid out of the streets, but not the streets out of the kid.
- BJS was impressive, for one fight. Lets see him do it more than once.
- Flanagan vs. Hooker? Easy Flanagan win.
- Believes Fox/FS1 will continue their relationship with PBC in 2018.
- Likes Tessitore, Bradley is getting better, and Kreigel is new. Crew isn't that bad, people need to let them gel. Wouldn't be surprised to see ESPN make a run at Kellerman when his contract is up. Just speculation, no inside info.
- Vargas is not a tune up for Thurman. He is a legit opponent. One of the reasons a champion should take the proper time off to rehab is so when they return they don't have to fight a total bum.
- Mikey Garcia vs. Mosley or Duran at 135? No disrespect to Mikey, since he is a fan of his, but he would be KO'd by Mosley and Duran.
- Froch's resume is as good as anyone's in the modern era. Rarely took easy fights.
- Broner vs. Figueroa probably happens in the spring.
- Loma for the HOF? Would never vote anyone into the HOF after 11 pro fights. Is he on HOF trajectory, yes, but needs a longer career.
- GGG and Canelo vs. BJS? Would favor both to beat BJS.
- Jacobs vs. BJS? Skeptical. Not sure BJS would come back to North America in back to back fights. Jacobs has HBO money behind him, but BJS has the belt.
- Any chance of Bradley coming back to fight Khan? Doesn't think so. Would have wanted it 6 years ago when they both were top guys at 140.
- Khan vs. Brook? If it happened it would be a money grab. Doesn't mean anything anymore.
- Crawford vs. Danny Garcia? Won't happen.
- Boxers compared to other athletes are the most approachable in public and friendly with the fans..
- Floyd vs. Conor in MMA? No idea, the fight in the ring surprised him. Nevada would sanction it because of the money involved and fans would tune in for the freak show.
- Gervonta likes to talk shyt, but when Loma calls him out he is quiet.
- Seldon didn't have the talent to compete, bad matchup. Both he and his corner were woefully under-prepared.

Sorry for the past few weeks, been busy. You can catch up below if you want:

- Is Garcia avoiding Easter? No. He is taking a good fight vs. Lipinets.
- After Garcia could make the Linares fight, he heard three opponents: Easter, Lipinets, and Figueroa. The Figueroa fight is garbage, so he made one of the good fights available.
- Rigo deserves all the criticism he is getting for quitting. Not how a prize fighter is supposed to behave.
- Believes that Arum would make Loma vs. Pacquiao at 140 in a heartbeat if both guys wanted to do it. ESPN and TR want to do PPV as part of their deal. This fight could easily be on PPV.
- Caleb Plant? Fun fighter, good talent, and a nice guy.
- Kownacki might be back Jan. 20.
- Picking Lemieux over BJS by KO.
- Garcia vs. Rios? Nothing official yet, but if made Garcia just looking for and easy win vs. a name.
- Sadam Ali? Will likely stay at 154 and defend around April. Doesn't favor Ali vs. any of the top fighters at 154.
- If Mikey beats Lipinets, would seem less likely he would move back down to 135. Linares would probably need to move up to fight Garcia.
- Spence vs. Peterson undercard will feature Easter vs. Fortuna. Total mismatch for Easter.
- Taking Spence over Peterson. Spence totally has what it takes vs. Thurman, if Thurman will fight him.
- If Crawford were to fight and beat Horn, then Arum would want to make Crawford vs. Pacquiao. Problem is Pacquiao has not wanted that fight. Could still make Loma vs. Pacquiao.
- Loma vs. Gervonta Davis? Floyd said he wouldn't make it. Loma would win easily.
- Thoughts on the current WW division? It has taken too long to sort things out. Spence could be a HOF'er eventually.
- It is definitely in the plans to use the ESPN-TR deal to put fights on ABC.
- Sure that Arum would make Alvarez-Gvozdyk. Could be on Showtime or ESPN, let the bigger bidder win.
- The HOF entry list this year was deep. Suspects Calderon will get in the next year or two.
- Pascal for HOF? He had a very good career, but not HOF worthy.
- When has a fighter made as many opponents quit in a row like Loma? Never.
- GB on ESPN? GB has a deal through next year. Hope they step their game up, their cards have been brutal.
- Will Truax give DeGale a rematch? Not sure, but is told that DeGale did not have a rematch clause, his handlers should be fired for that kind of malpractice.
- Charlo beats a lot of guys at 160 and gives anyone a tough fight.
- Longest putting off of a mandatory (Stevenson)? Hamed ducking JMM.
- Beltran vs. Loma? Not even sure Beltran gets past Moses.
- Not a good year for HBO.
- Has talked with Crawford about his place in the current PFP. Crawford can't listen to anyone else's opinion but his own. Won't even let you finish sentences.
- Prograis is supposed to fight Postol, but no deal yet.
- Loma vs. Mayweather at 130 is a legit fight. Loma wouldn't necessarily win, but he has a chance.
- Favorite NY fight venue? MSG Theater. Every seat is a good one.
- Would love to see Loma fight Linares.
- Thinks that Loma beats current Pacquiao pretty easily.
- Upset of the year? Truax over DeGale.
- 3 fights he wants in 2018: Joshua-Wilder, Spence-Crawford, and Garcia-Loma.
- Salido for the HOF? Outside chance, he is open-minded.
- Will Ward come back? Wouldn't be surprised, actually is expecting it.

- Told that Joshua vs. Parker will be finalized soon.
- TR's plan is to have Loma fight the winner of Beltran-Moses for the 135 lb belt.
- The size advantage between Loma and Rigo is real, but not expecting it to be the difference in the fight.
- Picking Loma by W12.
- Rigo for the HOF? No. He only has one pro win of consequence (Donaire). Beating Loma would go a long way.
- Suspects the HOF would make an exception and allow in 4 entrants for the 2022 class if Mayweather, Ward, Cotto, and Klitschko all remained retired.
- Pascal should win if he has anything left.
- Showtime is doing a great job changing with the times to show fights.
- If Crawford and Horn fight it will be in the US. Crawford has no interest in fighting in Australia.
- Thinks Hatton will get into the HOF eventually.
- Possible Jan. 27 will be the Benavidez-Gavril rematch.
- Biggest fan bases over the last 20 years? ODH, Floyd, Tyson, Hatton, Pacquiao, Cotto, and Canelo.
- Had Cotto beating Ali 115-113.
- If Loma beats Rigo he likely is FOTY. It is a lean year of candidates. Others up for consideration would be: Joshua, Crawford, and Garcia.
- His negative comments on Rigo are about his fighting style, not him as a person or what he has been through. He respects that part of him a lot.
- PBC on Showtime has been solid for quite a while.
- Still no date for Stevenson to fight Alvarez. Seems like he will fight Jack next.
- According to Roc Nation it is not a done deal that Rigo loses his WBA belt at 122 if he loses vs. Loma.
- Most iconic arena for boxing? MGM or MSG.
- Fantasy tournament at Super Feather: Floyd, ODH, Pacquiao, and Loma? Floyd.
- Better career: Cotto or Bradley? Cotto.
- LSC vs. Mares 2 is supposed to be in March, but no announcement yet.
- If they blow Joshua-Parker over 5% that is just bad. That said, Parker does deserve at least 1/3 of the pot.
- Kelly Pavlik vs. Ward? Pavlik would have no chance.
- If Rigo would win he would jump several spots in the PFP, but may not be #1.

- Enjoy Cotto vs. Ali for what it is, a celebration of Cotto. Several bigger names turned the fight down (Spence, Vargas, Garcia, and Peterson).
- Ortiz being allowed back after a $25k fine/bribe? All about perspective, fine or bribe, he has to pay $25k.
- Is Spence the 6th best fighter in the world? Not yet, he still needs to earn that spot, but he will be there shortly.
- Ranks Linares higher than Garcia at 135? Linares is the lineal champ and a better resume at 135.
- Rank Puerto Rican greats? Gomez, Tito, Cotto.
- Cotto is a first ballot HOF'er.
- Has not seen Loma and Rigo together, but from meeting them separately thinks they are close to the same size, with Loma being slightly bigger.
- Has tried to talk with Gilberto Ramirez about the WBA sanctioning 2 more secondary titles, but he won't respond.
- No US TV news for the WBSS. Schaefer is frustrated, but also thinks they are overpricing themselves.
- Daniel Dubois? One of the best HW prospects out there. Strong and powerful like a bull.
- Was Corley robbed vs. Cotto? No.
- Picking Cotto to KO Ali.
- Cotto never ran from GGG.
- Thoughts on Charlo vs. Centeno Jr. being mentioned? Charlo with ease.
- Wanheng Menayothin legit 49-0? Lotta cans on the resume.
- Any interest in a Gamboa vs. Sosa rematch? No.
- Bowe ducking Lewis is the biggest blatant duck in boxing.
- Lamont Roach's last fight was his best performance. Good boxer and a nice kid.
- Thoughts on Bivol? Love him. Super talent. Fun style to watch. Will be a major player at 175 for years to come.
- Doesn't know much about Matthysse's next opponent. Not a good card to start 2018 for HBO.
- Marcus Browne? Turned down an eliminator vs. Gvodzyk.
- Maidana vs. Matthysse? One of the fights he most wanted to be made. Would have leaned Maidana.
- Can't disagree that Parker has looked average his last few fights and Joshua could beat him easily.
- Cotto vs. Hatton at 140? Would pick Cotto, but a great matchup.
- The PBC fighters who fight once a year need a real promoter.
- Kovalev might fight Barrera in March.
- There is always an alternate ref for boxing matches in case something happens to the first ref.
- If he was starting a promotional company today, which fighter would he want first? Joshua.
- Will Loma vs. Rigo bring out the best in each other and create a classic fight? No.
- Prime Cotto vs. JCC Sr.? Cotto, JCC is too small.

:mjpls: lol

- Believes Fox/FS1 will continue their relationship with PBC in 2018.
as they should..those cards are actually more better than the bigger PBC cards

- If Horn can make more money vs. Mundine than Crawford then that fight makes a lot of sense, because he has no chance vs. Crawford.
no one gives Horn a chance against T-Craw lol
