Seems like everybody is everybody's mandatory now in 154, we heard so many versions already

Jermall Charlo's mandatory is Julian Williams

Jermell Charlo's mandatory is Charles Hatley... winner of Jermell Charlo vs Charles Hatley has Andrade waiting for them as the mandatory defense already.

DEMETRIUS ANDRADE EAGER TO FACE CANELO TO "BUST HIS ASS"; SOUNDS OFF AND PUTS 154-POUND DIVISION ON NOTICE
By Percy Crawford | June 17, 2016

demetriusandrade2.jpg

PC: Congrats on the win. You came back on the scene with a splash. Obviously you're pleased with your performance. How do you feel?

DA: I feel good, man. You know, after doing 12 hard rounds, the body is sore. I need to rest up and after a week or two, sit down, look at the drawing board, and see who we can defeat next.

PC: I remember when this fight was made, I was thinking Willie Nelson isn't an easy go for anybody. You appeared to not have missed a step. It had to be a great feeling to put on that type of performance against that caliber of opponent.

DA: It felt good. I was telling people during my time off I didn't slack one punch. I was staying in the gym and stayed focused and dedicated my time to my craft, my career, my livelihood; it's feeding my family right now. Knowing that I was undefeated, I was and I still am the former champion, but the other champions are going to be knocking at my door. The opportunities are going to come back around again. God has a plan for everybody and it's turning in my favor now. I was just excited to get back in the ring and I was ready to rumble, young man, rumble!

PC: Would you call the ordeal you went through more frustrating or a test of your character and patience?

DA: The only frustrating part was me watching other people fight and me not actually fighting. I enjoyed taking time off to work on the development of Demetrius Andrade and what I see that needs to be done to make me fan-friendly and increase my power and knowledge of the game as well. That time definitely did me justice and we all seen that in the ring.

PC: You also showed that your power carries late into the fight. Was it a mental thing for you to press and get the knockout or did it just happen for you?

DA: I was definitely looking for the knockout when it comes. When the punch is there and everything is in place, I was going to load up. I wasn't looking for the one-punch knockout. I'm going to put the combinations together and I'm going to figure out which punch is going to be that bang-boom, you know. I have just been working and working on my strength because I have the boxing skills and talent. Me sitting in the gym hitting the bag and doing the boxing part, that's not going to go anywhere. But what I needed to do is get bigger and get stronger and work on the strength and endurance part. If I can't stop a guy in the early rounds or if it's an all-out war, then I'm going to have that in the later rounds like I did. I'm learning how to conserve energy and be patient while being consistent with my attack at the same time. So I was looking over all of my fights and I was like, "Damn, I could have pressed the action. I could have done this and that." So the time I took off, I definitely got in the gym and worked on some things in sparring and putting the pressure on and just trying to get in the habit of always having something out there in each and every round so the people will be like, "Whoa, whoa, whoa, did you see that," and put them butts in them seats.

PC: You closed that distance and for once, you weren't the taller guy in the fight, but you showed great patience after hurting him in letting it all come together. That's the mark of a great champion.

DA: Nah, if you go into my fights and watch any of my earlier fights, I ain't never just go in there and try to just go all out because how I grew up watching the sport of boxing and watching other fights. I seen how people get somebody hurt and sometimes, they not hurt as bad as you think. I've been fighting 20-something years now and I've been hurt once or twice in my life and sometimes just because you hit me with a good punch, you might wobble me or have me dazed for a quick second, but that doesn't mean I can't protect myself or come back with some power shots, like the Ortiz and Berto fight. Berto go ahead and drops him and then goes in and tries to rush him, so boom, he goes down. I'm learning from them mistakes and I'm not going to put myself in them positions at all. It looks ugly and it looks sloppy when you just go in there and do that shyt. So I was like, I'm going to take my time and I'm going to perfect the masterpiece of this knockout where it's clear and clean and not just me throwing a whole bunch of punches to get you out of there.

PC: The 154-pound division is a really hot division right now, if not the hottest division, and it's great to see you back in the mix. You've said all of the names; any name in particular that you want to test your skills against more than anyone else?

DA: Canelo! Overall, Canelo because he is the most popular, he's fought Mayweather, and he's been at that elite level. I want to be able to fight somebody that's fought that elite level and he's still giving people action. Even though he's not fighting the best, he's fighting blown up 40's and 47's and that's some bullshyt, but I would definitely like to get in there and bust his ass. I've been calling him out before, but you know you call him out and his fans are like, "Why should he fight him? Who did he fight? Why? Canelo don't need to fight him." But let him say, "I want to fight Amir Khan," and his fans are like, "Yeah! Yeah!" If he wanted to fight Liam Smith, who has my old belt, "Yeah! Yeah!" He wanted to fight James Kirkland, "Yeah! Yeah!" Come on, man!

PC: Unfortunately, there is an unwritten thing in boxing where you can look too good. I don't see many guys looking your way.

DA: That's what I was worried about too. I gotta go out there and perform and do the best that I can, but it's like, damn, I shouldn't have looked that good because I'm not going to be able to get these fights. But at end of the day, they are going to have to make these guys fight. As long as the media and the fans keep on screaming Demetrius Andrade's name, they are going to have to make them fight.

PC: I hope to see you in some of these fights that you want. Great to have you back in the mix and I wish you the best. Anything you want to add my man?

DA: I just want to thank you for being a supporter of boxing. Everybody out there, just keep following Demetrius Andrade. You go to google and you can find all of my social media pages and just stay tuned for greatness, man. God bless everybody.

Easiest, Smartest, thing is Fight Khan... AB would become #1...it works for Khan as well cuz its a big money fight for him N he can see if his body N chin hold up moving back down to 147

AB vs Bradley on PPV as long as Bob Arum is being truthful about his talks with Haymon:blessed:

Dan Rafael chat wrap 6/17:

- Canelo's options are very open right now for the fall. GGG unlikely. Liam Smith and Lemieux could be very likely. Cotto a possibility, but Cotto vs. JMM may finally happen.
- Not sure if GB would foot the bill for Canelo's $8.5 million judgment. There will be an appeal and he has a decent chance in that.
- Leading candidate for Ward's tuneup is Erik Skoglund.
- Ward has wanted to fight in Vegas for quite some time (Kovalev vs. Ward will take place in Vegas).
- Fonfara vs. Kovalev would be a fun fight, but definitely not in the picture as Kovalev has his next two fights scheduled.
- Charlo brothers say they will not fight each other.
- Lamont Peterson still could potentially fight in August.
- Jose Ramirez is still very raw and needs to do more to be a top 10 LW.
- Crawford vs. Lomachenko in the next 2 years? Arum has mentioned it...but will only believe it when he sees it.
- How high in weight will Lomachenko go? He really isn't that big of a guy, he definitely could go to LW, but probably not that much higher...maybe 140.
- Gamboa vs. Lomachenko? Would be very interesting.
- Lomachenko is one of the best fighters in the world.
- Loma's KO was great, but he still has Wilder and Canelo's ranked ahead of it for KO of the year.
- Rematch negotiations between Lomachenko and Salido has not been started yet.
- The PBC cards on ESPN in July are horrible.
- Expects Charlo vs. J-Rock to be made before a purse bid, since both are with Haymon.
- Verdejo's performance was good and better than his past couple.
- The Fight Game special regarding Ali was the most insightful and compelling celebration of Ali and deserves a lot of credit.
- Lara vs. Andrade is very possible because both fighters will fight anyone and they are both with Haymon.
- No reason why Andrade couldn't beat anyone at 154 and give GGG a good run at 160.
- Andrade told him he is happy to be out of the WWSOB (Winky Wright School Of Boxing).
- Donaire's next fight will likely be in the Philippines vs. his mandatory Magdaleno.
- Ortiz vs. Ustinov will be in August or September.
- Warren vs. Payano is a good fight (he is looking forward to it more than the main event), but Fonfara has to be the main event because he is the draw in Chicago.
- Wouldn't be shocked if GGG fought at Dodger's stadium sometime.
- Quickest main event he was ringside for? Probably Tua vs. Moorer.
- Tyson vs. Tua in 1999? No idea who wins, but would love to see it.
- Jacobs is grumbling about how long it is taking to get a fight...heard a few PBC fighters feel the same way.
- Chances of Broner vs. Garcia? Certainly possible.
- Heard that tickets for Porter vs. Thurman are moving quite well. However, hype may be more subdued due to the delays.
- Is Thurman underestimating Porter? After talking to him, definitely not.
- Estrada vs. Nietes likely in September.
- Usyk is very good. An Olympic gold medalist, exciting style, and moved along quickly as a pro. Will be fighting Glowacki soon (no US TV yet, but hope it happens, great fight).
- Diego Corrales has not appeared on the HOF ballet yet, although he has been eligible for several years. Hoping he appears on the ballet next year.
- Loved the Freitas vs. Barrios fight.
- Rex Tso? He is okay, but nothing great.
- Lubin is a tremendous prospect.
- Hopes that Crawford vs. Postol does well on PPV because Arum didn't want to put it on PPV, HBO forced the issue by not paying for it on regular TV. This was the only way the fight would get made, so it being successful is good for the sport.
- Which Olympics boxing class was better: 1976 or 1984? He prefers 1984, but both great.
- What series was better: Morales-Barrera or Vazquez-Marquez? No right answer, but personally preferred Morales-Barrera.
- Did Lennox duck Vitali by retiring? No.
- What happens to PBC fighters if PBC goes bankrupt? Believes Haymond is still their advisor or manager and the vast majority are currently promotional free agents.
- The Turning Stone has become one of his favorite places to go see fights.
- Too hard to say if Arum and Haymon can make fights together or if Arum is just hoping they can. Haymon doesn't comment, so they can't confirm the other side to Arum's claims.
- The WBC has not given Wilder a new mandatory. Currently Povetkin is still the mandatory.
- Rosado's recent performance? Very shaky. The result could have gone either way.
- Does GGG KO Jacobs? Probably.
- Favoring LSC vs. Frampton.
- Benavidez is saying Crawford is avoiding him, any truth? Nonsense.
- Vitali for the HOF? Yes.
- Amir Monsour? Hearing he may face Oscar Rivas on the Wilder-Arreola undercard. Alabama is too easy to get a boxing license in (in regard's to Rivas). They didn't actually have a commission until a few years ago and it was formed to capitalize on Wilder.
- 2016 GGG vs. 2007 Abraham? GGG.

Exactly
Swift ain't get credit for pulling the upset the first time. People still run with the whole "he was getting his ass kicked before that lucky punch" myth

If he were to do it again, nikkas would be in here with all those excuses you listed.

agreed :to:

- Andrade told him he is happy to be out of the WWSOB (Winky Wright School Of Boxing).
:mjlol:

the same..after that wild ass fight with cleverly, fonfara deserves a better opponent

- Usyk is very good. An Olympic gold medalist, exciting style, and moved along quickly as a pro. Will be fighting Glowacki soon (no US TV yet, but hope it happens, great fight).
agreed dude will be a problem at CW, ive come around on him..one of the networks really needs to do a super 6 on this division

- Loved the Freitas vs. Barrios fight.
fukking classic...freitas was so close to losing..really wanted him to lose :francis:

- Hopes that Crawford vs. Postol does well on PPV because Arum didn't want to put it on PPV, HBO forced the issue by not paying for it on regular TV. This was the only way the fight would get made, so it being successful is good for the sport.
thats why im buying..2 honest skillful fighters that need a push

- What series was better: Morales-Barrera or Vazquez-Marquez? No right answer, but personally preferred Morales-Barrera.
there's no right answer..morales-barrera was fueled by pure hatred but even they didn't inflict the type of damage on each other that vazquez-marquez did

- Did Lennox duck Vitali by retiring? No.
Yes :beli:

- Amir Monsour? Hearing he may face Oscar Rivas on the Wilder-Arreola undercard. Alabama is too easy to get a boxing license in (in regard's to Rivas). They didn't actually have a commission until a few years ago and it was formed to capitalize on Wilder.
Rivas? isnt that the dude that had serious eye problems and failed an exam before a PBC fight that got cancelled

- Vitali for the HOF? Yes.
Yeah

- Favoring LSC vs. Frampton.
dont care about this fight...LSC should be fighting someone better and established at 126 and Frampton ducked Rigo
