WBC featherweight champion Jhonny Gonzalez has dedicated his upcoming fight to Mexican wrestling superstar Perro Aguayo Jr. (El Hijo del Perro). Over the weekend, 35-year-old Aguayo died after a tragic accident during a wrestling match in Tijuana with former WWE superstar Rey Mysterio Jr. Aguayo was knocked out during the match, he was unresponsive and pronounced dead upon his arrival to a local hospital.

Gonzalez will defend his belt against once-beaten Gary Russell Jr. in a Showtime televised main event on Saturday night from the Palms Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

"I'm going to dedicate this next fight to me friend Pedro "Perro" Aguayo. Any rudeness that he showed in the ring was pushed to the side when it came to helping people. He was always organizing events with children and invited me to participate. I think most people will remember him for that and for his great deeds inside the ring," Gonzalez said.

Now....when AB gives this response, it's "he's scared of Danny Garcia":russ:

:mjpls:

"It's all business, so if a fight happens with Adrien Broner, it happens" - sounds like the same thing AB has been saying for about 2 years now in reverse:yeshrug:

If you had to pick one fight to watch, which would you choose.

AB v Khan at 147
Cotto v Canelo at 154
Khan v Brook at 147
AB v Swift at 140
I say Cotto/Canelo, and hopefully at 155+ for the MW title. Despite what we think we know about Canelo, I'm not sure if he's elite or not. I had him losing that Austin Trout fight and he wasn't impressive there. The Lara fight wasn't a good look for him either. What's his best win? Angulo? He hasn't done enough to show he's on that level yet. Cotto lost to Trout and hasn't been the same post-plaster beating, but he's good enough to expose Canelo if he's not an upper echelon talent. And Cotto with Roach can and will make Canelo earn it. And the action would be great.

So if Cotto wins, he beats back father time a bit longer and probably turns this Canelo thing into a nice trilogy. Maybe he can work himself into a rematch with Mayweather or Pac, current promotional issues notwithstanding.

If Canelo wins, it's the best win of his career. And if Canelo is impressive in a win, then it's a good sign for his career and makes 154/160 more exciting. And Canelo would be more willing to fight GGG.

The only AB fight I'd find nearly as interesting as Cotto/Canelo is AB vs the survivor of Matthysse/Provo.

Erislandy Lara is, and yes, Canelo beat Trout as well while Cotto lost CLEARLY...no debating...to Austin Trout.

Trout himself doesnt even argue he beat Canelo:heh: He's comfortable with the position that he lost, because.........well.............he did:yeshrug:

RingTV.com: Your thoughts on the Cotto-Alvarez negotiations and what might have been?

AT: I’m not necessarily dwelling on what could have been. Looking back, I know where I stand and what could have happened had I won this fight or that fight. Of course, you’re sometimes going to look at that. But I don’t usually look at things like that too often because that’s not what I want to dwell on. But if I’m looking at it now, though, I see that Cotto and Canelo has always been a mega fight that could happen between them. To be honest, though, even if I had beaten Canelo, you know, I don’t have a whole country behind me, so it’s not like I have that massive following that he does. So even if I did beat Canelo, a mega fight might not have been in my repertoire, and that’s even if I had won. I just think that Canelo and Cotto is a big fight even if I had won, because I think that’s just a fight that the fans want to see. I’ll definitely be watching that fight if it happens.

RingTV.com: Who wins Cotto-Alvarez?

AT: I fought them both, and I’d be pulling for Cotto to win, even though I think that Canelo is going to be the one who is going to take it. The reason I believe that Canelo is going to win is that I believe that he’s going to be stronger and that he’s faster. Cotto is strong, himself, but I believe that he will be the smaller guy in that fight. But we’ll have to see. So as I said, I hope that [Cotto’s trainer’ Freddie Roach can pull off a great game plan and that Cotto is able to pull it off. But other than that, I believe that Canelo is going to win that fight, even though I’m pulling for Cotto. If Cotto wins, because I beat Cotto, I think that it would look better for me if Cotto wins.

So if the man who was in the ring believes he lost himself, going by his own words and him not saying he DID beat Canelo...only "ifs" on it, with all due respect, any differing opinions arent valid to me:manny:
