I think he did that with Lomachenko in reference to prove his vast experience as an amateur and that even though it was his first fight, he is skilled far beyond that. Plus he did add on many comments regarding other skills of Lomachenko letting the audience know (hyping) that he isn't some prospect to watch out for, this is a skilled guy who should become a top guy in the division.
The thing about Max that I notice the most is not his boxing commentary, I think he does a great job, but he is trying to fill the role of Larry Merchant's sage advice...and it doesn't work...that was Larry Merchant's personality and reputation. Seeing Merchant in the Ward-Gatti doc was .

I still don't understand the Lampley hate. Yes he does shill for HBO, but so do the Showtime guys (more so IMO), but his ability to control the commentary and be on point, there is no one better. I think too many people try to dissect every word he says (and forget he is the lead for HBO's agenda), but his ability to be that lead man on the broadcast is amazing.

How you can even compare Lampley to anybody at SHO

Guess I am not sure what you are referring to, if it is negativity or positivity for Showtime. I can't stand their announcing team at all. Bernstein is great, but he is at his best in freestyle talking, being interviewed, and in documentaries. He is solid in calling fights. Mauro is horrendous and I Paulie isn't much better. I actually wish they gave Farhood more time in the main broadcasts...

Three weight World Champion James Toney is among the first names announced for the Britain vs. USA Prizefighter International Heavyweights bill at the York Hall in Bethnal Green on Thursday November 14, with Anthony Joshua MBE topping the bill in his third pro fight. Toney joins fellow countryman Sherman ‘The Tank’ Williams, Prizefighter II winner Sam Sexton and the returning Larry Olubamiwo as the first four names revealed in the line-up for the 32nd edition of the eight-man, one night tournaments.

Olympic Gold medal hero Joshua is in action in Sheffield this weekend (October 26) and will return to the capital for his third pro bout, and he’ll be joined on the card by his cousin Ben Ileyemi, who made his debut at Cruiserweight on the same bill Joshua at The O2 earlier this month.

“Word got out this morning that James Toney was in the line-up and it’s already caused some reaction,” said promoter Eddie Hearn. “Heavyweight Prizefighter is always the most exciting edition of the tournament and we are looking forward to selecting the final four participants. Either way. We all saw the beating Bradley took in that fight, but he laid devastation on Prov too. I don't remember what round, but I swear Bradley rocked him in one of the rounds.
