I don't think Floyd is ever going to fight Canelo. No reason to even get your hopes up about it. It seems everyone agrees Floyd is too small for Canelo. He isn't best at 154, Canelo doesn't want to move down to 147 or even 150 for Floyd......Floyd shouldn't HAVE to move up when he's the bigger star. I also think Golden Boy doesn't want Floyd taking out their next star this early in the game despite how bad Canelo wants the fight.

It's all hype at this point.....Floyd is probably gonna fight Garcia and the rest of these 140 pound guys and call it a career.

You're putting that Ortiz quit shyt at 147 out there to make it sound like he's just some flat out heartless coward. I'll give you the L against Maidana but Lopez broke his jaw and kept hitting him in that muhfukka. Lol. So that lost doesn't look as bad as you think.

Now that is an unfortunate chain of events for Canelo becuz before Victor lost those two straight he had won 3 or 4 straight with a draw to Lamont Peterson in there. So having victor on Canelo's list doesn't look as bad as some would think.

No, he quit at 147 against Floyd. The KO was a formality. He quit when he got frustrated, started headbutting intentionally, and then tried to hug and kiss Floyd. I wasnt even counting the Lopez fight (gave him a pass on that one) if you re-read and consider I was speaking 140 Maidana and 147 Floyd. I wouldnt call him a coward. I will say that his will can be broken easier than most fighters at his level.

i gotta say the 3 floyd related boxing threads in the coli have been nothing but comedy lol

I didnt even go in the SRR thread...and never will. Its foolishness to compare two fighters from totally different eras. Politics and business is different. 50 fights is a lot for a fighter today.

and first post in the "who should he fight thread" has Paul Williams and said he should be recovered by then....

Guillermo ‘El Chacal’ Rigondeaux is looking forward to defending his WBA and WBO 122lb world titles in September. Rigondeaux is hoping that his promoters Top Rank and Caribe Promotions can make a fight with Golden Boy’s WBC featherweight champion Abner Mares. Golden Boy, according to the Nevada Athletic Commission, paid Mares $350,000 for his victory over Ponce de Leon on the undercard of Mayweather/Guerrero. “It was an easy night’s work beating the 2012 fighter of the year Nonito Donaire on April 13th but beating Mares will be even easier,” said Rigondeaux. “I have already beaten Mares in the Pan American Games by a wide points margin of 17-7 but with the headgear off and these small gloves I will knock him out. However, if he wants to step up to the big time he should take this challenge. I’m sure my promoters can make it financially worthwhile for him and for Golden Boy. Of course, if he simply wants to be an undercard fighter and not rise to this challenge, that is his right but all will know then that he is afraid to fight me.”

I think synistr did a good job of summing up Ortiz. Hes not the toughest dude mentally but i still enjoy most of his fights. Canelo woulda broken his jaw a second time

That was the first match up I thought of after Mares ran through Ponce the way he did. I thought there was talk right after the even though that they wanted to set Mares up with Santa Cruz. So, I guess we'll see

Personally, I'd rather see Mares vs. Rigondeaux & Santa Cruz vs. Nonito

Rigo vs Mares would be a great fight.
A chinny, young ,dirty and active brawler vs a faster and powerful seasoned veteran :lawd:

Chavez Jr calling out Murray for a fight in August possibly for the interim WBC belt:whoo:

Once Sergio is ready to fight again he goin have some problems waiting for him that he don't want:smugdraper:

I like Floyd but I'm very happy to read that his recent fight may have well under a million buys

Mares vs De Leon is a good fight but not good enough to carry a regular showtime card by itself

Floyd is smart because he paid the whole card under 5 million but as a consumer that card was not worth $70

If he's fighting Guerrero esque comp then his cards need to be deeper
