is anybody else extremely hyped for peterson-maKNEEsay?....these are the types of fights I live for as a boxing fan. two young guys in their primes in a fight that'll take em to that next level. a great clash of styles.

amen to that expectation as i also feel that fight is pretty greatly matched, so much can happen in that one. The card could have been even better prior to the cancellation of devon v brook. I was picking on a Lucas win but if lamont turns up he could be tricky for the Argentine and mayb be a close one. I really do hope the winner faces Garcia in september.

But who you got though:ufdup:

Nah, forreal...I think that Matthyse is gonna beat him AND Danny Garcia. I just think he's been underrated for too long and is gonna finally take his spot as 140 champion

yea its just a great matchup overall. but I think lucas is on a mission. he's been really steppin up the pace since alexander. and with his power I think peterson is gonna come out really hesitant.

I feel the same. he finally has another chance to become the man and I don't think he's gonna let it slip away. peterson aint gonna be able to fight like he did vs khan. once he feels lucas' power, I see him goin into retreat mode. and if lucas gets the win, I think he KO's garcia in the later rounds. dude is just too open to go the distance with lucas.

to me its a pick em fight. if Peterson could box, he could win this fight easy. if Matthysse would be active throughout the entire fight he could win easy. likely neither will do what they should do so it ends up being a tighter and closer fight.

I lean towards Peterson because he can take Matthysse's punch and I believe will be more active. I dont have much faith in Matthysse winning decisions, he just dont step on the gas enough for me. Its like he runs a 800m race at the same exact pace the whole entire race.

my boy B-Hop doesnt think Pacquaio vs. Rios is a cherrypick fight.

Hopkins Shocked: Pacquiao is Brave To Take Rios Fight - Boxing News

its not a cherry pick fight. I think some here think I was knocking the fight. Its the perfect comback fight IMO...I disagree with B-Hop. While Rios will have some moments I think ultimately it will be a one-sided affair, thats where I disagree with B-Hop. Otherwise, its the perfect guy, with a name and a guy that Pac can get back in the win column against and look like the Manny of old doing it. He is going to look really good against Rios. If he doesnt, he should retire.

Rigo vs Mares would be a great fight.
A chinny, young ,dirty and active brawler vs a faster and powerful seasoned veteran :lawd:

:russ: :russ:

I like Floyd but I'm very happy to read that his recent fight may have well under a million buys

Mares vs De Leon is a good fight but not good enough to carry a regular showtime card by itself

Floyd is smart because he paid the whole card under 5 million but as a consumer that card was not worth $70

If he's fighting Guerrero esque comp then his cards need to be deeper

you know....I am really skeptical of these early numbers. I would be surprised if this was less than 1 million buys. Really. With CBS doing the promo and all, I would expect there to be many more buys than what is being reported.

I could be wrong, and that would only prove that Showtime is not ready for the big time yet and will have to make some serious adjustments beginning with finding a more marketable opponent for Floyd's next fight.

Really though, I always gripe about undercards. No one does it like  and even Top Rank is not as shytty as GBP. These fights arent worth $70...I surely dont pay that much for them. I get a discount so I pay about $40....I will fukk that up on a dinner or a trip to the sporting goods store randomly. Still, $40 is not really worth it to me. Only paid it so I could come in and chat it up with you guys here. A lot of people are streaming these fights now....so that plays a part too.

Nevertheless, better undercards may get more real fans like us to buy but not the casual fan...and I use that term casual loosely. No. Floyd needs better opponent or at least a "perceived" better opponent.

Showtime is still much smaller than HBO especially as far as their market outlet when it comes to boxing. Plus I am sure the fallout between GBP and HBO played a hand in lackluster numbers. Just by removing all of Floyd's content off of HBOGO has hurt this fight I guarantee you.

GBP is not experienced in promotion, they are noted as being extremely unorganized. Mayweather promotions brings little to the table to offset that inexperience which was masked when GBP was doing business with HBO.

If these numbers are below 1 million :snoop: they need to get creative fast. Maybe serve Ishe to Canelo to make Canelo undisputed, and maybe bring in Trout as Mayweather's next opponent. Building for undisputed 154 championship fight for May, sort of like a 4 man tourney....but on the same CARD! Because if the numbers from Ghost fight are that bad, I will have to backtrack on Danny being the next opponent.

Brolic... Alcoholics
No, he quit at 147 against Floyd. The KO was a formality. He quit when he got frustrated, started headbutting intentionally, and then tried to hug and kiss Floyd. I wasnt even counting the Lopez fight (gave him a pass on that one) if you re-read and consider I was speaking 140 Maidana and 147 Floyd. I wouldnt call him a coward. I will say that his will can be broken easier than most fighters at his level.

How do you translate a dirty tactic into quitting? Hopkins does something dirty every fight. It's clearly evident that you don't like Ortz.

hellz nah dude, I have NOTHING against Ortiz. he mentally checked out in that fight. Bernard is dirty but he does shyt the ref cant see. The ref rarely notices what Bernard does. when the referee is on the left side, Bernard will hit his opponent in the thigh on the right side....:heh: totally out of the view of the ref. Ortiz did a straight billy goat butt the WHOLE world could see. Not cool. He checked out because he got frustrated early. then he hugged Floyd like 3 times and when the ref said break he had his hands down! talk about a lack of focus. Guerrero was locked in the whole fight and never stopped trying...Ortiz quit as soon as he found out he couldnt hit Mayweather. I gave him a pass against Lopez, but he checked out against Floyd. Mentally, he aint all there for fights of large magnitudes. If he cant hit his opponent or they dont stay down like Maidana refused to do, he has no plan B and just panics. Berto's mistake was he gave him enough confidence early to last him for 12 rounds.

I got Peterson. Mythesse is overrated as fukk.

Overrated, maybe. Overhyped, definitely...unless you consider them both the same thing. He is a good puncher but he is not true championship material. He has too many ways he can be beaten and he doesnt have the motor of a true champion. Not talking about a belt holder, anybody can get a belt nowadays. He basically took an L against Judah and didnt learn from that mistake and lost the same way to Alexander, but not stepping it up in championship rounds or fighting consistently every second of every round. I think he could KO Garcia, but still wouldnt favor him in that fight.
