they are saying lomachenko cant move up to 140 and 147 where there are some big fights for him because he is too small. heres some numbers.

vasyl lomachenko 5'7 65 inch reach
roberto duran 5'7 66 inch reach
henry armstrong 5'5 67 inch reach
manny pacquiao 5'5 67 inch reach
julio cesaer chavez 5'7 66 inch reach
miguel cotto 5'7 67 inch reach

he looks like he is right there with all these guys, and, some of them, like duran and cotto, moved up to 160. is he too small to move up to 140 and 147? or is that a better sounding way to say he is not good enough to move up to 140 and 147? what it sounds like to me is that they fast tracked him early in his career and are now planning to stall him out and let him rack up fights in a division without too many threats.
I'll bite :troll:

Because there are some other numbers to give some context :
  • vasyl lomachenko
    • starting career - 126 at 25 yo (2013)
    • 3rd weight class - 135 in his 5th year at 30 (2018)
    • 140 in 2020 at 32 (4th wc) ?
  • roberto duran
    • starting career - 135 at 17 yo (1968)
    • 3rd weight class - 154 in his 14th year at 31 (1982)
    • 140 at 21 (2nc wc)
    • max wc : 154
  • henry armstrong
    • starting career - 126 at 19 yo (1931)
    • 3rd weight class - 147 in the 7th year at 26 (1938) - weight classes were wider so he would probably had his 3rd way earlier in the current era
    • 147 at 26 (3rd wc, no 140 in his time)
    • max wc : 160
  • manny pacquiao
    • starting career - 105 at 17 yo (1995)
    • 3rd weight class - 122 in his 4th year at 21 (1999)
    • 140 at 31 (7th ? wc)
    • max wc : 154
  • julio cesaer chavez
    • starting career - 130 at 18 yo (1980)
    • 3rd weight class -140 in his 9th year at 27 (1989)
    • 140 at 27 (3rd wc)
    • max wc : 140
  • miguel cotto
    • starting career at - 140 at 21 yo (2001)
    • 3rd weight class - 154 in his 9th year at 30 (2010)
    • 140 at 21 (1st wc)
    • max wc : 160
So my conclusions :
1. Out of all those names, Loma is the second fastest to fight at his 3rd weight class and that is considering Pacquio started fighting at an age where he hadn't stopped growing and he was weighing a ridiculously low weight so it was easier for him to move up in weight that much.
2. Loma became a pro at a way more older age so that means moving up will not be as easy for him as the others even though he's already at his 3rd weight class.
3. Duran and Cotto were the heaviest when they started their pro career so it's logical that they managed to move up to 154. Also, starting at heavier weights, they reached their 3rd after 30 same as Loma who started pro way later
4. Loma is 30 already and Pacman moved up to 140 at 31. All the others were already at 140 at 30

I know you like to hate on dude (though it's a cordial hate so it's all good) but you're not being fair here. He's on par if not faster to move up in weight than the guys you cited. Considering he started later, it's logical that he has some physical limits than the others didn't have to move up much at his current age.

Just trying to be a bit fairer in the Loma criticism :manny:

Loma did not look good last night, man. Like I said last night, I'll give him a pass for the injury, but this is the second time in a row he's looked very vulnerable. I'm actually wondering if he's starting to decline due to age. Either way, I'm not sure that he stays #1 p4p for long
Declined....from damn near day one he had salido problems, he pretty much showed his level capacity...has he improved since we don't know as he ducked that match, if he lookingvulnerable vs b class fighters, maybe he just a b class fighter...

i dont understand what these numbers were supposed to prove. according to you 4 of 5 started at super featherweight or lower like lomachenko also did. you bring up the fact that lomachenko turned pro late, but neglect the fact that he was already a grown man competing as a lightweight in the amateurs. he didnt just come out of nowhere. pacquiao was 30 years old, the same age that lomachenko is now, when he to went to 140. he made the jump to 135 to 147 back down to 140 in a little over one year. pernell whitaker made the jump to 140 to 147 inside of one year. how many years does lomachenko need? he is the same size as all these guys. the answer to that question is irrelevant since people are saying he should never move up to 140 and 147 period. they dont want him to move up at all. the argument that he shouldnt move up and that he cant move up are two different arguments. one might be true and the other is a sneaky, better sounding way to make lomachenko look better. kind of like saying pacquiao is too old and lomachenko, out of the kindness of his heart, doesnt need to fight him. it sounds better to say that than it does to tell the truth.

I like that Deontay is doing all of these interviews, and is "going for it" as far as trying to be a big attraction. A lot of these guys just want to fight and go home.

As far as his weight, he would be foolish to gain weight. He's not gonna outbox Fury, but he can outwork him, and he needs to be in the best shape as possible for their next fight in order to do that.

I'm halfway through watching the fight for the first time and I just feel his workrate should be higher.
