That’s interesting, I thought it was already confirmed that Gus was gay. I also thought Jesse got an appropriate punishment based on everything he went through (Jane, Andrea, forced to be a meth cook/slave, etc) but I see where you’re coming from.

Either way, I don’t think that’s the end of Kim’s story and I would be very surprised if she’s gone just like that (it didn’t even occur to me that the breakup might be her final scene). I’d bet that something is still gonna blow back on her that we can’t see yet.
Can you explain that a little bit more? I didn't know that. I just assumed that he and his POllos Hermanos partner were lovers.

The show runners/director/writers do a podcast. They did one for each ep of "BB", and now they do one for "BCS".

Anyway, during season 4, they were discussing the scene where Max is begging for Gus's life.

Kelly Dixon, the editor, assumed they were lovers. Vince Gilligan was like :whoa: "nah, the ep is called 'Hermanos'", meaning that's his brother. Not literally, but they're best friends.

As the podcast went on Gilligan was like :ld: "well, if people want to interpret that scene however, it's fine", obviously not wanting to offend anyone.
A bit after that, a random interviewer asked Giancarlo Esposito how he felt about playing such a strong gay character and he hit the :gucci: and wasn't even sure what they meant. He said the character direction, script, etc. never said anything like that.

Matter of fact, they planned to use real pics of Giancarlo's daughters in Gus's house to show he has a wife/kids. I think in season 3. But never followed through with it, for whatever reason.

So....yeah. Gus being gay is a retcon. But :yeshrug: whatever.

i dont think hes gay, he even was uncomfortable with it
It doesn’t matter whether he is or isn’t. I think a simple explanation is he avoided any romantic relationships (whatever kind it may have been) because he didn’t want to involve anyone in his dangerous lifestyle. He saw Max die and never wanted to feel that type of grief again.

Listening to the podcast for the latest ep.

I'm not gonna lie, the entire wine scene went over my head because I wasn't even entertaining the idea that Gus was gay, for the reasons I outlined.

But I'm curious what they're gonna say about it.

If you go back and look at the scene the waiter calls him Mr. Fring so it's a respect there nothing gay about it. Maybe it's just a place the Gus likes to chill at and have a glass of wine. Listen to conversation.

A place of normalcy for Gus. After what he just been through with Lalo and the rest of the cartel maybe he wanted to unwind. Celebrate victory over a glass of wine.

Mike you'll see at a bar thriving back beer and shots with Gus he keep it more upscale.

In that same scene didn't he tell him to call him Gus showing that he was letting his guard down.

I dunno, I couldn't get a read on that scene.

Whole thing felt weird and I wasn't sure what the point of it was. Which is extremely rare for these writers.

I mean, Vince Gilligan is an "X-Files" vet so the DNA of "show a scene out of context, then explain it later" is embedded in "BB" and "BCS" but I didn't feel like that watching that scene. I was lost.

Then I went online and seen everyone saying it confirmed Gus is gay so it made sense. Given what I explained earlier, there's no way I would guess that from that scene.
