The best thing about these writers is they put things in (scenes, lines of dialogue, etc.) in the off chance there will be pay off later. If there isn't
nobody notices....but when there is it makes it seem like they had "Breaking Bad" and this planned out from day 1.
For example, they gave Saul enough depth in "Breaking Bad" that, watching this now, it seems like he's still Jimmy on
some level even in the later seasons of "BB". Like when he was trying to give Jesse relationship advice about Andrea in season 4. Another obvious example is his willingness to end his partnership with Walt after he found out they poisoned Brock....potentially throwing away millions of dollars to do the right thing.
There's no reason for the Saul we know to do any of that. But Jimmy....he'd definitely do something like that.
