I kinda felt like it was a filler episode, but thinking on it more, there were some important story and character developments :ehh:

No way this was filler.

The Kim job/partner thing is her raising her anchor and beginning to sail. She knows the banking stuff like it’s clockwork and the flashback of her asking Chuck about obscure laws shows that she learned so much more from him than anyone else. She’s EASILY grieving for Chuck more than anyone because of the impact he had on the early phase of her career. Kim is ready to be the kind of balance lawyer Jimmy/Chuck/Howard could never want to be and the symbolic distance forming between her and Jimmy is evident and she’d be out of her mind to fukk with a joint firm with him in 9 months (which is like 1.5 years of Jimmy schemes)

Mike is running shyt with this tunneling project but Kai is not serious considering the $ he’s about to make with all expenses taken care of. He will be trouble and I could easily see him getting bodied/buried right on that site for the sake of the project continuing. These cats don’t realize/know what kind of sociopath Gus is and he’s not fukking around.

The transformation of Jimmy continues. Dude basically told Kim to fukk off with seeing that shrink and told Howard to eat a dikk since HHM is trash without the co-signs Chuck pre-paid from his years in the game. Jimmy is damn near in IGDAF mode and the only time he somewhat wavered was when he stepped away after Kim said she had a job in the pipeline. Dude held his stomach like the last spirit of doing right by people left his body and watching that old lady in his commercial was the fukkin memorial. Jimmy legit felt worse about that old lady dying than he did about Chuck.

The Yay
basically all people whom Jimmy cared about that prevented him from being slipping jimmy - chuck( in a perverted way), kim (they both know their relationship isnt working and kim knows hes lying about criminal law - no such entry in his notepad) and then the old lady.

seriously, this is THE episode. this is the jimmy->saul transformation point. jimmys words to howard are to saul goodman. jimmy only studied law for kim, which is obvious. now that she doesnt want wexler-mcgill, why practice law ? hes not good as a lawyer but great at sales. he doesnt really like law shyt. hes saying fukk it.

The best thing about these writers is they put things in (scenes, lines of dialogue, etc.) in the off chance there will be pay off later. If there isn't :manny: nobody notices....but when there is it makes it seem like they had "Breaking Bad" and this planned out from day 1.

For example, they gave Saul enough depth in "Breaking Bad" that, watching this now, it seems like he's still Jimmy on some level even in the later seasons of "BB". Like when he was trying to give Jesse relationship advice about Andrea in season 4. Another obvious example is his willingness to end his partnership with Walt after he found out they poisoned Brock....potentially throwing away millions of dollars to do the right thing.

There's no reason for the Saul we know to do any of that. But Jimmy....he'd definitely do something like that. :wow:
