It makes no sense to put new url battlers on the app before they build a fan base.
URL should still be releasing battles of the guys trying to build a resume on YouTube still. Until they at least gain Swamp level traction.
You should be trying to get your new battlers as much exposure as possible. The App at best, has what, 25K subscribers? Even if you want to get crazy and push it to 50k, that’s nothing for exposure when the URL Youtube page is over a 1.2 million.
I understand they’re trying to build their app but this is like trying to secure fiends as clientele for some brand new work before they even get a sample of the product. Some times you gotta give them freebies so they can tell you if it’s potent or not.
I think what Smack has done in building and owning (& by consequence keeping BR alive) distribution shouldn't be understated, that said, if I have one major criticism which correlates with your post is that they should definitely have a free tier.
One of the three weekly battles should be made free, not only will it help promote the new guys but also, they'll (URL) make money in the long run as you it brings more eyes to the table and allows for easier conversion.
If I'm watching * new guy* vs *new guy* for free on the app , I'll be far more likely to upgrade to premium to watch *Known name* vs *known name*. It's basic business sense to have a free tier, a win win for all involved (consumers and vendors)
