If you have already seen the Batman VS Superman movie, read or heard the reviews from IGN or Rotten Tomatoes. Or if you even listened to episode 17 on the FTESWL podcast you would already know… This movie is not what it’s all cracked up to be. Now to no fault of its own. These are two of the most recognizable superheroes, no scratch that. These are the two most recognizable superheroes period and we got to finally see them on the screen together. Oh what a time to be alive!

Batman vs Superman has two scenes just like that :mjlol:with people just completely stopping and looking at Batman when they're holding machine guns. This Batman just moves faster and more fluidly and that's it. The same problems in the gif were still in this movie.

Once again both Bane vs Batman fights >>> Batman vs Superman. Bane/Batman bike/batpod chase & Batman/Talia Batwing/Truck chase >>> Opening car scene & Dockyard chase. Bane Airplane sequence >>> The Africa scene with mercs.and Lois.

There was nothing special about the action in this movie :mjlol:

Just got back from my viewing.

Solid 7/10. Could've been better but DEFINITELY not the abortion the critics have made it to be. I went in almost expecting Catwoman/The Spirit levels of bad. But it wasn't, I had a good time.

The Good

-Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne
-Jeremy Irons as Alfred
-Henry Cavill as Super Man is pretty good
-Action scenes were very well done as was the Batman Vs Superman fight
-Gal Gadot convinced me she can be a good Wonder Woman (she still too skinny and ugly though)
-"Death" of Superman was actually well handled

The Bad

-Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor of course was NOTHING like the Luthor we all know and were expecting. He was basically Mark Zuckerberg 2.0 if Mark Zuckerberg added murderous intent to his resume

-Lois Lane is annoying as all hell. By the time she was trapped under water I was hoping against hope she'd drown

-The Justice League set up was lame

-Does EVERYBODY know Supes and Bruce's secret identity?

The editing of the movie was so noticeable and jarring I actually believe it was done that way on purpose. The movie has so many scenes that really attempt to be allegorical and evocative of Myth, Legend, and religion. Of course the Jesus/Satan metaphor is pretty much the lifeblood of the film, and I kind of got the feeling that the editing was also meant to evoke the turning of pages in a comic book, in any event, as I got use to it I didn't mind so much. The knightmare sequences were ok, but if I knew NOTHING about Darkseid or Flash being able to travel through time I would've been lost so I understand how it would've confused clueless critics. Jesse Eisenberg was complete failure as Luthor until that last sequence where Superman fell to his needs and he said something like "Now God kneels to me:shaq:". THAT was a genuine Luthor moment. Next film needs to build him up as more of a conniving a$$hole and less of a childish little dweeb with a social disorder Lois Lane needs something to do besides be an annoyance and a useless damsel in distress, seriously the movie went overboard with putting her in peril 4788766 times. No complaints whatsoever about Batman/Alfred they were great in the film. Gal Gadot was good and convincing as Diana, I'll never go see a standalone WW movie but she'll do well in Justice League. The reveals of Aquaman, Cyborg, and Flash were pretty lame and it would've been better to just cut that scene altogether. The ending battles starting with Batman Vs Supes was pretty good, the audience I was with ate it all up. The three fighting Doomsday was a cool sequence and Superman's "death" was pretty cool.

All in all its on par with movies like Thor part 1 and Age Of Ultron, films that were good, not classic or earth shattering.
I feel like Luther had enough moments in this that they can definitely build on him.

I hear what you're saying breh but Superman is about as far from reality as you can possibly get :pachaha:

This tone works for Batman and possibly Wonder Woman, but characters like Flash?

I mean all of it's pretty far from reality and is pretty much totally implausible.
The point though is to have a consistent feel and logic to your fantastical universe which
keeps the fiction intact.

Being as "close to real as possible" really means "Hollywood realism" not literal real life.

The Watchmen had a ton of a "Realism" while featuring a character who could split himself into multiple
versions and blow men to shreds with just a thought, however the writing kept the character grounded
into that universe.

In SVB's case, it WORKED and it's personally a direction I'd love to see more Superhero films go in.
Leave the black/white storylines and focus on comedy to Saturday morning cartoons and bring on
the discussions on power, mortality, god, etc. for a film.

I walked away from it really feeling like the writers flexed their muscles and explored Batman/Superman in
a dope "ManVsGod", "Moral RelativismVsObjective Morality" etc. kind of light and it gave the movie meat.

I enjoyed it, though I can see the issues ppl would have with it.

Only thing that messed it up for me was all Eisenberg's Heath Ledgerisms. I mean ya almost feel embarrassed for the kid at some point.
He has potential but he gotta do his own thing next time...

NO
:what: You want to see Eisenberg back? Next Superman movie needs to be Brainiac. I'd rather they wait and recast Lex and maybe Cavill.
Yup.

Eisenberg was freakin awful. He's more of a lame, virgin, mad-scientist Luthor (which he nailed) then a Presidential, perfect human Luthor (which he should've been).

His Luthor was a spoiled child genius seemingly who inherited his father's company and wealth. I wanted the tall, physically imposing, deep-voiced, skinny-Kingpin like Luthor like in the animated universe who was a self-made billionaire who came up from nothing. During his speech at the party, he looked so damn awkward. The animated Luthor and the comic version wouldve grabbed the audience in both the movie and at the party. This Luthor was a joke who superman should've snappped his neck when giving the chance.

Speaking of superman, wheres his cold breath? He couldve extinguish the flames at the shuttle disaster and the explosion at the Capitol!
