Love the tone of the two movies so far in the DCU. It's a complete 180 from what marvel is doing. At one point during the film...I was just staring at the screen taking in the tone (while still paying attention) and I was loving how dark/serious it was. I just love how you can watch 15 mins of man of steel or BvS and instantly tell its the same universe (minus the characters). The films have the same tone and feel and I appreciate the route DC is taking with these films. Even the previews from the Wonder Woman joint gave me similar vibes. it makes me wonder how much involvement Nolan has as a producer, because I can see his touches here and there.

.

:russ:

I feel you breh.... but calmed down a little :whoa:

I think they banked too much on the Batman and Superman feud. A feud that is built on 20+ years of not seeing eye to eye with each other.

In TDK returns the only reason Batman knows he has a chance against Superman is because he knows Clark and the kind of man he is. Bruce knows Clark won't kill him and that's Batman's biggest advantage. But that somewhat trust in Superman is based off of decades of a relationship.

When you take away that relationship, its seems almost idiotic to think that Batman would pick a fight with Superman. Batman would try to determine for sure if this guy is a threat or not by his own means and not some second hand evidence or a bogus news report.

I truly thought WB was going to go the route of having Bruce test Superman. Meaning I thought the fight would go in a direction of having Batman put Superman in a position to where he would have to kill Batman. And they sort of did that, but I thought they were going to have Superman ultimately beat Batman but choose not to kill Bruce even though he had good reason to. He would choose not to kill even if it would save his mother. But unknown to him, Martha would be saved by Alfred or something because Batman would have also known what Lex was up to. But this would be the only way Bruce would be able to trust Superman's character. By basically putting his own life on the line to determine if this guy is truly a killer and a threat to the World.

Does that make sense?

Sounds reasonable.. I mean everyone has their take of what they want... but at the same time if they did go exactly how you would of or anyone would of preferred then people would complain that's predictable. Hell people saying it is predictable as it is for things that they already assumed would happen.

With that said... it is only on rare occasions where Superman actually defeats Batman in the comics. It is typically Batman that gets the upperhand, and being that this is a direct rift from The Dark Knight Returns (which started it all with the BvS shyt), it shouldn't be at all shocking over the end result. It is true and it was made clear in the film that Batman's biggest advantage is that Clark will not kill him. And to somewhat to an extent, Bruce acknowledges this when Alfred said he is not their enemy. Bruce just doesn't care because he thinking about the future of mankind.

I already made me spill about the importance of Martha being the names of both mothers, but I will say this. Had Superman beaten Batman, there wouldn't of been absolutely no kind of catharsis and atonement between Batman and Superman. Batman would still view him as an alien and a threat and Superman would succeed in doing Luthor's bidding, even if it was reluctantly. Batman had to be the one that defeats Superman because when Superman pleads to save Martha regardless if he gets killed, it exposes BOTH of the superheros' more vulnerable state. It humanizes both of them and gives Batman a new purpose. And therefore it had to be Batman to save Superman's mother for get some sort of self-redemption for the inability to save his own mother.

So, I am completely cool with that. You suggest is reasonable. But I do not see how it would of resolve the conflict between them two which had to happen. It had to be something drastic to have both of them make peace. Batman even if he is aware of Luthor isn't going to suddenly make peace with an alien after seeing visions of him ruling the planet and killing them. Reaching to the source of his torment and pull that emotional trigger is the best way in my opinion.

If there's an agenda why didn't it appear during Nolan's run? Critics seemed to love those movies.

How are critics trying to make the movie flop? They're just posting reviews. They're not protesting in front of theaters stopping people from buying tickets. BvS has a C grade on imdb and RT so clearly it's not resonating with the audience either.

Don't act like Transformers and Ninja Turtles are on the same level of pop culture as Superman and Batman:comeon:. You have two of the most iconic characters in America together in one movie and expectations are through the roof.
Critics love Nolan and hate Snyder.

Speaking of silliness, during the opening flashback of the Metropolis destruction, why the hell does it take a call from Bruce for that one guy to start evacuating the Wayne Industries building? Dude is looking out of the window watching buildings getting pulverized not even five blocks away and he's on the phone like 'Well, I guess I'll evacuate the building if you say so boss'.:francis:

Then for whatever reason he stays behind to get killed like dude just really wasn't digging this idea of getting away from that increasingly dangerous situation.:russ:
lol i thought about that too right off the bat, im like uhh shouldnt yall have already been evacuating :mjlol: him staying for no reason was even more laughable :mjlol:
