Just because it's a comic book movie doesn't mean that it has to be light hearted and colorful. All of the Batman comics for the past decade have been pretty serious, so having a movie along those lines isn't a stretch. And like others pointed out, I'm not talking dead ass serious with no jokes involved at all.

Look at the Arkham games. Based on comic books, but are still pretty dark and serious. Yeah you got the Joker cracking jokes here and there, but they're dark jokes :yeshrug:

The Dark Knight trilogy had a good deal of jokes as well. It's dark tone just overshadowed it a bit.

See from the trailer I can tell it isn't as serious as those movies so really even in relation to comic book movies it isn't going to be the most serious. Nolan's trilogy, MOS and Watchmen will out-serious this.
and you can tell that from one scene?

People have to get Nolan's trilogy out of their head when it comes to this. His whole universe just had Batman in it and no other heroes and that works because you can pretty much make a Batman movie with no CGI and all practical effects. But once any member of the JL or sidekick enters that movie then all that "realism" talk goes out the window.

how was MOS defeatist in your opinion?

- Pa Kent telling Clark that maybe he should've let all his class mates die in that schoolbus accident because he didn't want to risk the chance of the world finding out about his powers.
- Pa Kent getting himself killed in that tornado because he didn't want Clark going in there, for the same reason as above.
- Clark destroying the technology behind the Codex entirely simply because Zod wants to misuse it, effectively destroying the last remains of Kryptonian culture and civilization for all time (or for now at least).
- Clark being forced into a corner to kill Zod because of Zod's vow to murder as many humans as possible in defeat.

There's no semblance of trust, no radiance of hope, no belief in a better tomorrow, hell, there's barely any sense of victory when Superman finally saves the world, outside of Jor-El's teachings the movie is all nasty pessimism from beginning to end.
