quitting made perfect sense in the context of the storyline

there was no need for batman anymore after the dent act, everyone was locked up

thats why he was talking about hanging it up in TDK, because Dent could take over

when it was clear that the dent act was a mistake and there was another threat (bane), he came back

and it fit the falls, rises theme

was fine to me
