Ben is a member too right? Best screenplay for Good will hunting. And yeah Brad will be there. Plan B is doing the Lord's work
I thought he might be, not sure, if so, then this is on him. Plan B making sure black voices are heard, but I would love to see a non pain black movie win something soon

Yeah but American Sniper official release date is Jan.16 right, and it had limited release on Christmas day, and it has 7 nominations.

Only way black folk are going to be recognized by the Academy is to make slavery movies. :mjcry:

For real though, when 12 years a slave won, that would mean no movies with full black casts winning for the next decade. :sadcam:
But the company also made sure every guild and awards group got their hands on screeners. So it's a little of column A and B. Paramount made sure that the academy got screeners for Selma and that's it
Paramount didn't do their job, but I feel the Paris Attacks have something to do with this...we won't back down to muslims, etc etc

Well he's only in the writers bloc if that's true, not the actors bloc so he would have no sway. And I don't think the studio was pushing him for a nom as much as they were pushing the movie overall and Rosamund; that's the choice they made:whoknows:

But the thing is, Rosamund was great, but so was the movie, she's wasn't carrying it like Brad was. This will be an oversight for a couple of years.

True but as the guy in Deadline pointed out, they missed a good chance to be relevant and diverse
They did and they missed out on making some new people big movie stars and a listers. Or they want to go back to 2005 where the same group of a listers were the ones from the 1980's and 90's

Ben in Gone Girl? Yeah probably will. It's cause she had the more showy part but that movie doesn't work without him or Carrie c00n or, and I never thought I'd say this, Tyler Perry. Dude was so on point in that movie and was excellent in his role. If anything, the movie could've used more of him

Well indiewire is already asking if this will be the lowest rated oscars because of the lack of a-listers and big movies, but also the lack of diversity

I felt Tyler really did so much with his time, he was will. Gone Girl should be the favorite for best picture

It and not a good time to do that either, regardless of what people think if the Oscars are not relevant it's harder for the movie industry as a whole. They're lucky the super bowl isn't in late februrary this year. This is good for a march oscars in a way. If the oscars were earlier then we would have more problems. Also minorities will be pissed off. Selma should have got more, but I hear chatter that they hoed LBJ.

Gone Girl should at least get a nomination. I don't think it would be the favorite with Boyhood cleaning up everything in sight but you got 10 slots, throw Gone Girl in there, why not?

They didn't hoe LBJ but that's a different discussion for the selma thread and I've already gone into what I think about it and some others have as well. And his portrayal has nothing to do with David and Ava not getting any love, that's just mind boggling to me. I could see if dude was bad playing MLK then by all means, leave him out; I don't want him to be nominated just because he's black and just because he's playing MLK. But since he was pitch perfect and did a hell of a job, it's definitely a snub.
