if they're higher than the bottom 3rd of the lineup then there would be more emphasis on them actually hitting and not just being happy with .125 averages and some sac bunts 
Breh your worst position player is a better hitter than the pitcher. I can count on my hand how many pitchers were decent hitters. The pitcher is forever hitting 8th or 9th in a old school lineup or a sabermertics lineup.
