People already speculating that Ippei is taking the fall for Shohei's gambling addiction lol
I dont blame people, this sounds fishy as hell

Initially, a spokesman for Ohtani told ESPN the slugger had transferred the funds to cover Mizuhara's gambling debt. The spokesman presented Mizuhara to ESPN for a 90-minute interview Tuesday night, during which Mizuhara laid out his account in great detail. However, as ESPN prepared to publish the story Wednesday, the spokesman disavowed Mizuhara's account and said Ohtani's lawyers would issue a statement.

Ohtanis people said they knowingly paid the debts off, then corrected course when Mizuhara had a different story

So the most logical explanation per espn where they interviewed ippei was that ippei said ohtani knew about his gambling problem and paid off his debts directly to the illegal bookmaker. Of course ohtani lawyers found out about the espn interview and stopped it and now the story is ippei stole money to pay off his debt. Ohtani doesn’t spend money, while in Japan his mom gave him a 1000 per month allowance. At the end of the day it doesn’t seem that ohtani is a gambler, but he did something incredibly stupid, albeit kind, by paying off his friends debt directly by wiring that bookmaker money.

I think the padres will be a lot better this year and the dodgers are gonna be annoying with that top of the lineup. What’s the rotation after 2 spot tho looking kinda shaky.
